A Weird New Name

WDYT of Hanover?

It’s a surname and German royal dynasty*. I also automatically put a ‘g’ in the middle of it. I promise I don’t drink that much O_o

*And the name I drew von Gartenfeld Hasley from.

I think of the Hanover monarchs who ruled [name_m]Britain[/name_m], and seeing as 4 of them were called [name_m]George[/name_m], it reminds me of [name_m]George[/name_m] as well. It sounds a bit too surnamey to me, although I suppose technically it’s a place name; it’s not awful though. And I didn’t even realise what it would say with an added ‘g’. XP

I think of pretzels at first glance (Snyder’s of Hanover) but I don’t dislike it. I kind of like how it stands out but doesn’t sound ridiculous, although I think it has better potential as a middle name.

I automatically read “hangover” haha.

[name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts exactly.

Although getting past that I do like it.

Hanover…why am I thinking of a racecourse? Aha–I Googled it–there was a prominent Thoroughbred racehorse and sire called Hanover, a prominent Standardbred pacer called [name_u]Bret[/name_u] Hanover (because he was foaled in Hanover, PA out of a dam called [name_f]Brenna[/name_f] Hanover), and racecourses in several places called Hanover. I read a lot of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] horse stories growing up.

So those aren’t bad associations for me, just horsey (and I love horses!) I did not think of “hangover” till it was pointed out.

Sorry, I accidentally posted twice.

I can’t help but think Hangover :frowning:
