Oh, yeah, no, I definitely am. ![]()
In my defense, I did write today, so this isn’t entirely an excuse to procrastinate creating.
I’m doing some exploration into the backstory of one of my secondary MCs. Her name is [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] and she’s good friends with my MC, [name_f]Petra[/name_f], who is the captain of a pirate ship. This plot would take place a couple years before the story I’m currently second drafting (the one I actually did work on today) and follow [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f]’s journey to meeting [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and the beginning of their friendship.
The story takes place in a fictional world loosely based off fairytales (if you’ve endured some of my threads before, you may remember). [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] is from a kingdom that somewhat resembles [name_f]Russia[/name_f] in its climate/terrain and language (and names). Her family is poor so the only way she and her sisters can get an education is through the kingdom’s military school. While at camp, [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] decides her morals don’t align with the army’s and she deserts, along with another girl: [name_f]Irina[/name_f] “Rini”.
The girls stay with a group of people hiding from the kingdom’s authorities, including other deserters. I have two characters that I’m trying to name and I have a few options for each. All you need to do is vote!
Character 1:
Around age 19. Leader of the deserters and fancies himself a military genius. Rebellious, impulsive, quick to anger, slightly egotistical, cold, and argumentative. Has a tough shell which he’s convinced is his entire personality. There’s probably something soft underneath but I don’t think it will reveal itself. He desperately wants to bring down the government and thinks he actually has a shot at doing so with his military experience and ragtag group of criminals.
- [name_m]Aleksei[/name_m] / [name_f]Aleksey[/name_f] “[name_u]Aleks[/name_u]”
- [name_m]Alexei[/name_m] (no nickname)
- [name_m]Lev[/name_m]
- [name_m]Pavel[/name_m]
- Taras
(I worry [name_u]Alex[/name_u] is too “American” for the character which is why I’d opt for no nickname if I go with the [name_m]Alexei[/name_m] spelling).
Character 2:
Around 40 years old. He’s a doctor (focus in psychology) who lost his credibility. Soft-spoken, philosophical, skeptical, cynical, but quickly comes to care for [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] and acts as a psychological mentor/voice of reason. Doesn’t like C1’s plans to start a war (definitely more of a pacifist) and would leave the camp if he was able to. As it is, he’s in a wheelchair so he would have a hard time leaving, but sees it as an opportunity to continue his practice.
- [name_m]Ilya[/name_m]
- [name_m]Ilie[/name_m]
- [name_m]Isidor[/name_m]
- [name_u]Boris[/name_u] / Borislav “[name_u]Boris[/name_u]”
- [name_m]Vasiliy[/name_m] / [name_m]Vasily[/name_m] / [name_m]Vassily[/name_m]
([name_m]Ilie[/name_m] is pn eel-ee-AY and is technically a Romanian name. It’s a GP of mine though so I included it. If you vote for [name_u]Boris[/name_u]/Borislav, let me know if you prefer [name_u]Boris[/name_u] as a nn or a full name. Also pick a spelling for [name_m]Vasily[/name_m], et al.)
Thank you!
