Abe as a nickname for Ibrahim?

[name_m]Abe[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m]?

What do you all think, could I get away with naming my son [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m] and using the nickname [name_m]Abe[/name_m]? Or is it too much of a stretch?

I think it works. I love the sound of [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m], much more than [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. But it needs a strong, spunky nickname. Not sure what else would work. [name_m]Bram[/name_m]?

[name_m]Abe[/name_m] would work well as a nickname for [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m], I think. Since [name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m] is a form of [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Abe[/name_m] is the obvious nickname for it, it really isn’t much of a stretch.

I think it could be done. I see it as being almost more of a translation than a nickname. But that’s fine as well. I certainly know people who have names from one language who go by closely related names that are more common in the countries they live in.

As far as other nn options, I think Brahim and [name_m]Rahim[/name_m] are nice as well.

[name_m]Ibrahim[/name_m] is a great name!

Thank you for the comments guys.
I’m glad to know ppl think I could get away with it.
My eldest son has a long name (Zakariya) that easily shortens to [name_m]Zak[/name_m] so ideally I want my next son to have the same.
Someone on another thread suggested [name_u]Ira[/name_u] too which I also really like.
Any other suggestions/comments welcome.
