Our second baby is a girl and we are having the hardest time deciding on a name. I have a feeling we won’t pick until we meet her, but I’d love to get thoughts on these names:
Note: Her older brother’s name is [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], but we mostly call him [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]. We are big nickname people.
I’ve always loved [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], but I’m worried it’s too popular. I don’t mind Top 50 names but am trying to avoid Top 15. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is a family name so its popularity, while frustrating, isn’t a dealbreaker.
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] feels like the perfect option, but for some reason, I can’t commit.
I love [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]! I don’t think she’d be 1 of 3 in her class. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the #1 name every year only gets given to a microscopic percentage of people
Such a good point. I try to keep reminding myself name popularity is very different now compared to when I was a kid. I’m just scarred from being an 1980s baby with a Top 5 name which meant I was one of six, sometimes seven.
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] gets my vote - it seems you love it best! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you hear [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] often where you live?
Cecelia is lovely and my favorite for you, so she gets my vote!
Evelyn would be my 2nd choice, as it’s a family name.
However, you have to ask yourself if you would feel upset by not choosing Abigail? What if someone else in your family or close circle of friends chooses it for their baby? One of my favorite names is Emilia, and while her popularity does put me off a bit, I think I would be upset if I didn’t use it for a babygirl. At the end of the day, go with the name you love most, no matter the popularity!
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] gets my vote! [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] with either nickname is such a nice match with [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] nn [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]!
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite on your list is [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but, if you love [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], don’t let its popularity deter you!
You say you’ve always loved [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], so I’d go with [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], unless its popularity has put you off the name itself. Would it truly make you happy to call your daughter a name you don’t love as much just so that she’d be less likely to share her name?
You don’t mention any special love for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] besides its being a family name, so it sounds like maybe it’s not right.
Personally, I love [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], but I wouldn’t use it if you don’t feel sure about it. Maybe try calling the baby by each name for a while (before she’s born) and see if one feels better or worse than the others.
[name_f]My[/name_f] own favourite is [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], but if you love [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] so much, would you feel upset about not using it? [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] definitely is a common name but I feel like its peak has passed, I’d expect an [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] to be a 15-25 year old rather than a baby.
I love Abigail - that’s so gorgeous, so classic. It’s near the top… but I don’t know a single Abigail! It’s such a beautiful name. If you’ve always loved it, I say trust your heart!
I agree I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is too popular, and too similar to [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
I’m not sure where you are, but I rarely hear [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] used for babies these days, whereas it feels like every other baby nowadays is a Cecelia/Cecilia (I know 3 of them under age 2!). If you love [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], go for it!
I live [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] with [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Another name that is similar to [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] but different is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] also works with [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is my personal favorite, though all the options are very sweet
If [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is your truest love, though, I think it’s worth the popularity!! I also don’t hear it among younger kids as much as I do older teens, though this may be regional!
