About 2 weeks left and no decision

My husband and I have gone around and around with the same short list of names for months now and have yet to find “the” name for our daughter who will be here very soon. He says, “they’re all good” which doesn’t help much and nothing is grabbing me either. I was hoping if I put some names we like maybe you all can suggest some first/middle combos from the list or add in some new names and inspiration will strike. Big brother is [name]Henry[/name]. Thanks!

[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Anneliese[/name]
[name]Irene[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Mae[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Marjorie[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]

And some names we like but can’t use ([name]Katherine[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Martha[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Julia[/name]/[name]Juliana[/name])

My favorites from your list are [name]Ada[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name]. I love [name]Mae[/name] too, but I like [name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Mae[/name] better, as it leaves her with more options later in life. Some combos:

[name]Ada[/name] [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (this is very sweet)

[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Marjorie[/name]

[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name]

Good luck!

[name]Henry[/name] is such a handsome name!

[name]Ada[/name] - a wonderful vintage choice which goes brilliantly with [name]Henry[/name] … the only problem is, I can see it being constantly mistaken for the uber-popular [name]Ava[/name].
[name]Anneliese[/name] - I adore this name; elegant and unusual, yet accessible.
[name]Irene[/name] - I am not as fond of this one, personally … it seems almost dated.
[name]Lydia[/name] - a very pretty, underused choice, which is both vintage and accessible.
[name]Mae[/name] - a beautiful, simple, soft name. It is great in second place, as it works well with so many first names.
[name]Margaret[/name] - I love the nn options with this one ([name]Maggie[/name], [name]Greta[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], even [name]Peggy[/name] is nice, in my opinion) but the full name has always seemed a little harsh-sounding to me. Incidentally, one of our twin daughters will be named [name]Marigold[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name] - we also considered [name]Magnolia[/name], which you may like.
[name]Marjorie[/name] - this made me laugh, as I recently posted about this name, wondering if I was mad for liking it. I really do, though, and think it may be ready for comeback soon. Nns are a problem, as a [name]Marge[/name] is not particularly wonderful, though, and for that I personally would relegate it to second place.
[name]Ruth[/name] - I love the simplicity of this name.

[name]Henry[/name] and :
[name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Marjorie[/name].

Good luck!

My fave of your list is [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] and use the nn [name]Maggie[/name].
[name]Henry[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] sounds divine together!!

[name]Just[/name] wanted to add my vote to [name]Margaret[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Maggie[/name] as a nn, and you could also end up going with [name]Mae[/name] if that’s more suitable to her. Good luck!

I love [name]Ada[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name]. [name]Annaliese[/name] feels like a flowery name next to [name]Henry[/name], not that that is a bad thing but it might help eliminate names.

If you want any more suggestions:

[name]Adelle[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name] (although then you have an “H” thing going)
[name]Louise[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
Margiana
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]

Of the names you listed I really like [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]…so pretty and perfect with [name]Henry[/name]!

[name]Ada[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]*
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]*
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Ada[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Irene[/name]

My favorite names to go with [name]Henry[/name] are [name]Ada[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name]. Also how about [name]Anna[/name]?
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Mae[/name]

my favorites:

[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Anneliese[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Mae[/name]

My absolute favorite is [name]Lydia[/name] followed by [name]Mae[/name]…

[name]Ada[/name]- Very cute and goes well with [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Anneliese[/name]- I’ve never liked this name for some reason. It sounds a bit pretentious imo.
[name]Irene[/name]- Eh, it really doesnt do much for me. Maybe as a mn?
[name]Lydia[/name]- Gorgeous. Complements [name]Henry[/name] beautifully.
[name]Mae[/name]- Cute but it is not substantial enough for a first name in my opinion. What about [name]Maeve[/name]?
[name]Margaret[/name]- I dont care for [name]Margaret[/name]. Despite the fact that one of my best friends growing up was named [name]Margaret[/name] I just dont like it. It sounds frumpy. Maybe [name]Margo[/name]? or [name]Magnolia[/name]?
[name]Marjorie[/name]- This is cute.
[name]Ruth[/name]- I dont care for [name]Ruth[/name], but it could work as a mn.

Off your list I like [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Ada[/name] the best.

You have to use [name]Marjorie[/name].
There’s just no other solution!

[name]Marjorie[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would be very very sweet. You could call her [name]Mimi[/name], [name]Merry[/name], [name]Mae[/name] or Momo (I have a theory that all names starting with M with an O later on can have Momo as a nickname… I love Momo!)

Hm, that’s funny. One of my good friends is named [name]Mollie[/name] and her nickname is Moho (combining letters from her last name as well).

Thanks everyone for suggestions so far! [name]Will[/name] take suggestions to hubby soon for rankings and comparison. I really like a lot of them which may be why it’s such a hard decision.

Should clarify that I also think of [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Mae[/name] as better suited for mn position since our last name is 2 syllables I like the longer names better as well.

[name]Just[/name] had to let you know you’re right on the mark as several of these are names I like! However, [name]Cora[/name] is a friend’s daughter, can’t do the H thing, although I did consider it, Daddy is named [name]Louis[/name], family member with ex named [name]Lucy[/name], and the Vs create unfortunate initials with last name. [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name] are both on the longer list.

I love the name [name]Henry[/name] so much (it’s my favorite), and from your list, [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] are my favorites. I love [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]!

[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]

Good luck!

I suggest [name]Margo[/name] + any of the first few names as a middle name. I am using [name]Margo[/name] to honor the Margarets and [name]Marjorie[/name] in my family so you may want to do the same
