I’ve fallen in love with the name [name]Charis[/name]? It’s Greek and means [name]Grace[/name] (I want to honor a [name]Grace[/name]). However on nameberry it says it’s pronounced as Haar-ees, and English speakers pronounce it Kar-is. I much prefer the second pronunciation, the Greek pronunciation sounds too much like [name]Harris[/name] or am I way off? Also, I feel like I’m not being true to the name or the Greek language if I use the other. I love the name though. What would you do? I also love the Welsh name [name]Carys[/name] so should I just go with this name even though I prefer the meaning of [name]Charis[/name]? So confused.
[name]Charis[/name] is pronounced KA-ris. I’m afraid nb is wrong about this one. It’s a lovely name, I want it as a middle for my baby (if the little monkey is a girl). In addition to meaning grace it also means loveliness, kindness and gratitude!
I had no clue on prn and would have said [name]Cherish[/name]. I do love the meaning and true prn. [name]Just[/name] realize that you will have prn issues.
It says so because the Greek letter chi, with which [name]Charis[/name] starts, is pronounced ‘kxha.’ But like all other chi names ([name]Christopher[/name]) it’s given a simple K sound in English.
