About Isadora

Hello everyone :yellow_heart:

A few questions about the name [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], which is my current name crush.

  1. What middle names do you think go well with it?

  2. Does it resemble [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the explorer, [name_f]Dori[/name_f] the fish etc too much? I am worried that if I were to ever use it, these comparisons could be made negatively.

  3. What nicknames, other than [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], could be used for it? I am not the biggest fan of [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], I don’t mind it, I just feel like it is too common for my taste.

As always, feedback is much appreciated, and I’m so grateful to you all who give me it. :yellow_heart::yellow_heart::yellow_heart:

  1. Something short and simple, I think. [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Lucie[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f], etc.

  2. Not at all! Neither of those came to mind until you mentioned them.

  3. What about [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]?

I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is a great alternative to popular [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. Chic, yet spirited, is the best way I can describe its feel for me.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is a gorgeous name. I agree a short middle that doesn’t end in ‘a’ would work best. I like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] as a bold choice.

I am very partial to [name_f]Doro[/name_f] as a nickname, and I think would be very cute for a little [name_f]Isadora[/name_f].

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ida[/name_f]

I suggest [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] Yaelle
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is my favourite middle … [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. Can’t think of any additional nicknames. I like either [name_f]Ida[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]!! Bold yet familiar

I’d consider:
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Mairead[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

I don’t think [name_f]Dori[/name_f] or [name_f]Dora[/name_f] are really negative connotations -a little irritating at best. [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] has its own grandeur and the first syllable helps detract the attention from the [name_f]Dora[/name_f] part

Some nicknames for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]:
[name_f]Ida[/name_f]
[name_u]Issy[/name_u]
[name_f]Dodo[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Addie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sora[/name_f]
[name_u]Rori[/name_u]
[name_f]Ora[/name_f]
Idgie
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]
[name_f]Dotty[/name_f]

Hmm…

I would team [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] with something understated and short. Maybe a unisex choice would be cool.
Suggestions:
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_u]Brett[/name_u]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_m]Cove[/name_m]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_u]Blaire[/name_u]

Personally I did not think of [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the explorer dori or whatever I don’t think it has brings up any negative connotations.

I think [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is lovely other suggestions:
[name_f]Adora[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Dotty[/name_f]
[name_f]Addie[/name_f]
Honestly though I wouldn’t stress about nicknames people tend to choose the nickname for your child. For example one of my friends daughter is called [name_u]Denny[/name_u]-[name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] but has the nickname [name_m]Bow[/name_m] as she always has bows in her hair. It’s not related to her name but that’s what she’s called.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps : )

  1. I really like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]! I think she’s gorgeous, and still familiar without being too popular. Plus the right middle can just amplify the imagery and whimsical feel, even something as simple as [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or more wordy like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], or between the two like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Clio[/name_f]/[name_f]Cleo[/name_f], and I love the suggestion of [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].

  2. I don’t think the connections to the characters is a problem. For one thing they’re not bad associations, and for another they’re easily overlooked.

  3. My personal favourite is [name_f]Ora[/name_f]/[name_f]Aura[/name_f], followed by [name_u]Isa[/name_u], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] maybe.

I love the name [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], but similarly I really don’t like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] as a nickname. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Ida[/name_f] as a nickname from above. But as an alternative I have fallen in love with [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] an idea I thought I would throw at you.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] was actually one of the first names I liked when I was maybe 11 and getting more interested in names haha. I still love it. It’s elegant yet strong and unique. The only problem with it is that I hate the nn [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and I don’t love [name_f]Dora[/name_f] or [name_f]Dori[/name_f] either. Could [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] possibly work or is that a stretch? There’s also [name_f]Ora[/name_f] as [name_u]Ori[/name_u] that I could see working.
