Abram/Bram

I really like [name]Bram[/name] however I also know that formal names can be important in adulthood. I like [name]Abram[/name] but NOT [name]Abe[/name].

Can he be [name]Abram[/name] but called [name]Bram[/name] most of the time? Can [name]Bram[/name] stand on it’s own?

My ODS is [name]Nils[/name] [name]David[/name]

so…
[name]Abram[/name] [name]Michael[/name]

or

[name]Bram[/name] [name]Michael[/name] [name]Jon[/name]

I never cared for [name]Abram[/name] because of the biblical connection. I love [name]Bram[/name] on its own though. It reminds me of [name]Bram[/name] Stoker :p.

[name]Bram[/name] is a nickname for [name]Abraham[/name]/[name]Abram[/name], so I think that works just fine. I do believe [name]Bram[/name] Stoker’s given name was [name]Abraham[/name], and [name]Bram[/name] was just what he was called.

ETA: Whether or not [name]Bram[/name] stands on its own is up to you. It’s a bit made up, but most names were at some point, yeah? So no big deal. I like the sound of it.

[name]Bram[/name] can stand on it’s own and if you don’t like [name]Abe[/name] I’d steer clear of [name]Abram[/name] anyway.

I like [name]Bram[/name] on it’s own, it’s cool.

[name]Bram[/name] is nice, [name]Bramwell[/name] might be an option for you
I like [name]Abram[/name] and [name]Abe[/name], but I see how it would trouble you.

I like [name]Nils[/name] and [name]Bram[/name] together, they’re both considered ‘nicknames’ in origin but both can stand on their own these days. ^^
[name]Nils[/name] and [name]Abram[/name] would be less charming, and for me, [name]Bramwell[/name] would be too much next to [name]Nils[/name].
I vote for [name]Bram[/name]!

Names that have a similar flavour to [name]Nils[/name]/[name]Bram[/name]: [name]Klaus[/name]/[name]Claus[/name] (rhymes with ‘mouse’), [name]Leif[/name], [name]Tate[/name], [name]Jules[/name], [name]Karl[/name]/[name]Carl[/name], [name]Guy[/name], [name]Joseph[/name]/[name]Josef[/name] (and called Seph? Sef?), [name]Hugh[/name], [name]Clem[/name]

In case you decide against [name]Bram[/name]!

I think [name]Bram[/name] can absolutely stand alone; it often does in [name]Holland[/name], I think. The [name]Bram[/name] Stoker connection lends it a certain legitimacy (even if this wasn’t his full name).

I prefer [name]Bram[/name] (though I pronounce it brahm). I love it and I love it’s connection to [name]Bram[/name] Stoker (even if he was [name]Abraham[/name]). I think it can certainly stand on its own.

I love [name]Bram[/name] as a nickname for [name]Abram[/name] or [name]Abraham[/name] (both of which I love), but I do think [name]Bram[/name] can stand on it’s own.

Sidenote, I know someone who named her son Bramble and calls him [name]Bram[/name]. Bramble is what we call blackberries in these parts. Not that I’m advocating it to be used to name a youngun, because I sure get lots of scratches picking brambles, but if you were more of a indie-name sort, perhaps it could be an option for you.

I personally love [name]Bram[/name]
[name]Bram[/name] [name]Michael[/name] [name]Jon[/name] sounds great to me!
