I favor [name_m]Abram[/name_m] (obviously) but like both. [name_f]My[/name_f] associations with [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] are positive: [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] Bierce (satirist/writer) and someone I knew in college. I’ve not met an [name_m]Abram[/name_m], but my boyfriend is [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], nn [name_m]Abe[/name_m]. [name_m]Abram[/name_m] feels simple and earthy, while [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] has more flourish. [name_m]Abram[/name_m] has the obvious nickname which makes the name more accessible, while [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] has no obvious nn. I feel like [name_m]Abram[/name_m] is more Hebrew/Jewish whereas [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is more connected to Christianity (because of [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]).
[name_m]Both[/name_m] are fantastic names, but I prefer [name_m]Abram[/name_m] for its earthy feel and the nickname [name_m]Bram[/name_m].
