Acacia

I prefer the uh-kay-see-uh pronounciation, though it can also be pronounced as uh-kay-shuh.

What’s your thoughts on this name?

I’d probably pair it with a middle name keeping the hard “c” sound in flow, i.e. [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_u]Camille[/name_u].

Acacia [name_u]Camille[/name_u] is lovely. I’ve always loved the word, more for the look than the sound even.

Here in [name_u]California[/name_u] we say it with the shuh ending.

I pronounce it uh-cah-see-uh, I prefer that spelling I don’t see the appeal of the other spelling unfortunately

Here too, I’m in the PNW. I have trouble pronouncing it any other way.

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name, however you say it.

I’m in Midwest USA and I’ve always pronounced it uh-cay-see-uh…I’ve never seen it pronounced uh-cay-shuh. This name is in my UC and that second pronunciation is honestly putting me off

Originally from the Northeast US and I’ve always heard it pronounced with the -shuh ending.

I love acacia [name_u]Camille[/name_u]

I like [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] a lot & [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_u]Camille[/name_u] is very sweet! I do pronounce it uh-kay-shuh personally, but your pronunciation is nice as well

I’m in [name_u]California[/name_u] for reference

I would pronounce it uh-kay-shee-uh but I wouldn’t have a problem remembering how to pronounce it after being corrected!

I think it’s a very pretty name and combo!

I normally pn it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-cay-shuh but I see ah-cay-see-uh too  It’s a pretty name

I really like [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_u]Camille[/name_u]! [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] came to mind

[name_f]Acacia[/name_f] Camille is so pretty! I agree that the C sound flows well after [name_f]Acacia[/name_f]. [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_f]Cathryn[/name_f] would be lovely too.

Also, I would say [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] with a -shuh sound.

I would pronounce it just like wood, ah-kAY-sha. I personally am not a fan and similarly do not prefer names like [name_u]Spruce[/name_u], [name_u]Oak[/name_u], [name_u]Birch[/name_u]… I prefer Caseynl, [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], or [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], which all have very similar sounds to [name_f]Acacia[/name_f].

Silly me thought this name was pronounced uh-kah-kee-uh :woman_facepalming:t2:

Acacia [name_u]Camille[/name_u] sounds lovely.

I’ve only heard it pronounced as A-[name_u]Kay[/name_u]-shuh, both for the tree and the name (I went to school with an [name_f]Acacia[/name_f], the only one I’ve ever met, but I always admired her name!). I think A-kay-[name_f]Sia[/name_f] might be an uphill battle for pronunciation.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] or [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]? Those feel similar without the pronunciation challenge.

I say a-KAY-shuh, and I think it’s beautiful. I’m in the [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Northwest.

I think it would be mispronounced. uh-kay-shuh is the normal one.

And finally someone who understands phonetics!

I think it’s cool! It reminds me of the tree

My instinct would be uh-KAY-shuh but it would be an easy correction- chances are, if you say uh-kay-see-uh, that’s the norm where you are so she wouldn’t have many problems.

I like [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] [name_u]Camille[/name_u]- I think it sounds very pretty, especially with your pronunciation of [name_f]Acacia[/name_f]! Your pronunciation feels more elegant than how I would say it.
