While recently browsing through a list of [name_u]America[/name_u]'s national parks, I stumbled upon [name_f]Acadia[/name_f]. I immediately fell in love with the name, so much that I even added it to my signature. (I also think I may be developing a guilty pleasure for the entire place names category!).
Your thoughts on [name_f]Acadia[/name_f]? Would you pronounce it differently than uh-kay-dee-uh? Anything else you’d like to share? I’d love to hear it.
Oh and just to let you know, I’m 16, so I’m not considering it for a child or anything urgent.
[name_f]Acadia[/name_f] is a beautiful name, although I also like [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]. I think of the Canadian maritimes: blue sea, green hills, friendly people, etc.
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] I both love, too! I usually just think of [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] National [name_m]Park[/name_m] in [name_f]Maine[/name_f] - lush, green forests and sch.
I prefer [name_f]Acacia[/name_f], but [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] isn’t too bad. I pronounce it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-kay-dee-ah. However, because I’m Canadian, I think me using it might be too weird. However, in the US, it’s likely different. A lovely MN would be [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] was the name of an Acadian hero, who helped save her colony as a young girl. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a historic tidbit/name idea for you
I know a family with a little girl named Acaydia, spelled with a Y but pronounced the same as the national park. They call her Caya ([name_u]Kay[/name_u]-uh) for short, I think because that’s how their older daughter said her name, because they originally intended to use the nickname Caydie (similar sound to [name_f]Katie[/name_f]). It’s not my style at all, but I think it’s usable. I would suggest spelling it the normal way, though.
