I wasn’t quit sure what to name this post. But here’s what I mean. Have any of children ever recieved a nickname by accident? Either because another sibling couldn’t pronounce the new babies name properly, or they just decided they liked a certain nickname better? My 3 yr old can’t pronounce his new sisters name, which is [name]Delilah[/name]. Instead he calls her “eye yeah”. Now it seems a couple people on my hubbies side have taken to calling her that as well. Not sure what I think of that yet. Anyways maybe some of you berries out there have a cute nickname for a child, niece/nephew, friend out there that was accidental! [name]Hope[/name] this hasnt been done already, if it has sorry.
Yeah, my brother (who’s younger than me) couldn’t pronounce my name properly - he said something like “Janana” (don’t know how to explain how it’s read in English, though). I did liked it (and used it!) for some years, but now I find it ridiculous. Thank god nobody uses it anymore!
Oh yeah. My friends have a ton of nicknames that have nothing to do with their actual names. Morgs’ are the best.
[name]Angharad[/name]: [name]Morganna[/name], [name]Mo[/name]-eggs, Moggs, Moose, Moose Chops, Moose Pie, Hurricane, Angry-had, [name]Angus[/name] and… due to an unfortunate MSN typo… Anus.
My sister’s boyfriend, [name]Patrick[/name], goes exclusively by Packy thanks to his older sister. It wasn’t until he was 22 that anyone in his family realized it was an offensive slur in some parts of the world.
Janana is cute, but I can see how as you got older it’s to childish.
Renrose, if spell check changed a friends name to Anus i could definitly see all my friends calling that person Anus from then on lol
Kalebsmom - I choked on my coffee because I was trying to hold back a laugh at the NM packy. That is a very offensive slur where I live lol.
Yeah, lol. Most of her friends are boys so naturally they found that hilarious
Definitely! When I was younger I had a hard time pronouncing J’s. My brother’s name is [name]Josh[/name], so I ended up calling him [name]Wash[/name] or Washy.
I get called Danda because my younger brother couldn’t pronounce [name]Amanda[/name]. The best one though? My cousin’s name is [name]Courtney[/name]. This same brother had a hard time pronouncing names, I guess - and he called her “Doo doo!” Weird, right? It was hilarious, though. If we said, “[name]Say[/name] [name]Courtney[/name]!” He’d say, “Doo doo!” without missing a beat! He called our other brother “Bra bra”, even though his name is [name]Austin[/name]. Any other boy who wasn’t [name]Austin[/name] was called “[name]Bree[/name] bree”. Hahaha.
I was called Yaya by my little sister for years and several family members took to calling me Yaya as well. Also, my sister [name]Elizabeth[/name] came to be called [name]Lee[/name] which I doubt my parents had in mind, she said [name]Lee[/name]-lee instead of [name]Lizzy[/name] so she became [name]Lee[/name]-lee and later [name]Lee[/name]. She is still called [name]Lee[/name] today, even by new friends!
My parents never seemed to mind either way if people called us by Yaya or [name]Lee[/name]…and of course they called us that ourselves.
My brothers couldn’t say [name]Casi[/name] when they were little, so somehow I became Cakie. They called me that for probably the first 6-7 years of their lives. Lol. Now that we are grown, they only say Cakie when they want something. My mom would use it, but none of the family really would. Who latched onto it were my friends. They then “Cakied” their name :
[name]Jessie[/name] became Jeskie
[name]Destiny[/name] became Deskiny
[name]Sarah[/name] became Sarkies.
[name]Every[/name] now and then we bust it out for memory sake
