[name_m]How[/name_m] does everyone feel about the name [name_m]Ace[/name_m]? I met my first [name_m]Ace[/name_m] 3 years ago and thought it was the strangest choice. Now I’m enjoying the one syllable vibe of it. It’s on my short list but I don’t know if it’s too out there. Thoughts?
I personally dislike it. I think it is too trendy, and aligns with a category I dislike altogether. I am not sure what the exact label should be, but I mean names like [name_m]Ace[/name_m], [name_m]Rogue[/name_m], [name_m]Butch[/name_m], [name_m]Ransom[/name_m], [name_m]Axel[/name_m], etc. As a nickname? Sure. As a given first name? I wouldn’t.
If you like the short one syllable sound, others that I think sort of align with the feel of [name_m]Ace[/name_m] are:

[name_u]Ash[/name_u] , [name_m]Ashe[/name_m] (or [name_m]Asher[/name_m])

I know a little boy called Aceson who’s shorted to [name_m]Ace[/name_m]. It suits him though it’s not a name particularly like.
Two words: [name_m]Ace[/name_m] [name_f]Ventura[/name_f]. I wouldn’t use it; there are tons of other really great one syllable boy names- I’d look up some of those and see if you like any! @revlon suggested some amazing ones.
I think it’s more nick name territory.
I think it’s better for a nickname. its too much of a “trying to be manly/tough/cool” name for me but with the right given name it could work ok.
I wouldn’t use it as a given name. If he ended up struggling with school or whatever else, being named [name_m]Ace[/name_m] could make him more of a target for jokes and teasing.
If I could get over a bad personal association I have with it, I’d actually really like the name.
Thanks for all your responses! It’s tough to find a unique yet worthy name these days! I think I’ll keep searching for one syllable names.
It’s not my favorite, but it’s definitely not a bad choice. It functions better as a middle name imo.
