Aceline's pronunciation

Aceline is a charming, Medieval [name_u]French[/name_u] moniker with flair that could easily blend in with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] on the playground. I simply adore it, but I’m rather stumped on pronunciation. How would you pronounce Aceline ? Many thanks in advance for any input I may receive. I’m quite curious to see what you all think ! :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve never encountered an Aceline ! Very unique and intriguing. Instinctively I would want to pronounce it Ace-lynn similarly sounds to [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] ( without the g)

My instinct was to pronounce it like Celine with an Ah- in front of it! Which I reckon is probably correct considering it’s French?

I assumed ACE-line when I read the title. I guess A-SUH-LEEN would be the correct pronuncation.

in [name_u]French[/name_u], it would be AH-SEH-LEEN (spelled Acéline). without the accent, it’s slightly different, more like AH-suh-LEEN (much less stress on the second syllable). tbh in both, I hear ass pretty strongly :grimacing:

I’ve actually known a girl named [name_f]Acelynn[/name_f]!

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], I thought that were perhaps the case from my limited knowledge of the [name_u]French[/name_u] language, so thank you for confirming it. It seems most intuitive that she would be called Ace-suh-leen, because the word “Ace” is familiar and prominent.

I’m [name_u]French[/name_u] and my first instinct is to pronounce it in [name_f]English[/name_f]. Ace-leen. I have never seen Aceline here in [name_u]France[/name_u].

To me, it looks like AYSE-lyne, like a combination of ace ( rhymes with case) and line (rhymes with brine). Probably not correct though!:sweat_smile:
