My husband and I are both dentists but we love the name [name_f]Ada[/name_f] for our little girl. Would she be in for a lifetime of jokes about her nerdy parents? Or are we the only ones who would even make the connection?
lol, I hadn’t even made the connection to that! [name_m]Even[/name_m] when I googled it ([name_f]Ada[/name_f] Lovelace was my first thought, but I didn’t really remember who she was, so I thought maybe she was a famous dentist, lol. le sigh.), it was several links down. I thought of [name_f]ADA[/name_f] as in assistant district attorney, and [name_f]ADA[/name_f] (as in, Americans with Disabilities Act) was the first thing to come up. I think you’re safe, but I think others might be more aware of it because they know you as dentists? Maybe something like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f] would be safer?
Oh, I wouldn’t worry about it. I mean, I’m only eighteen, but I for one would not have made the connection to the American Dental Association. I had to google it to even connect the dots, so I feel like the people who would even realize the unintentional meaning behind [name_f]Ada[/name_f]'s name would be few and far between.
When you point it out like that I see the connection, but I think if I met an [name_f]Ada[/name_f], and then found out her parents were dentists later, it wouldn’t even cross my mind. I say it’s fine!
I think the only people who would notice immediately would be other dentists and even then maybe not because they might not give the spelling any thought.
Honestly, non-dentists aren’t even going to notice. So if it doesn’t bother you, go for it!
I think few people would notice.
I don’t think people will even notice. I couldn’t make the connection until someone else said it lol.
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is fine. Most people would miss the association.
I wouldn’t have thought of it if you didn’t point it out. Eventually if I knew your family I might realize it, but I’d just find it clever and cute
No. I love [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. Use it.
That sounds like a charming personal anecdote she’ll use during small talk on first dates. It feels like a fun hidden message once you know about it, but otherwise not at all noticeable.
I am Canadian, so I really had to think what the connection was. haha
I think it would be fine.
I think it would be totally fine. I didn’t make any connection to dentistry and had to Google “ada in dentistry” to get it. (Though as a Canadian I didn’t actually know what the American governing body for dentistry was called.)
Dentistry was the last thing I thought of. [name_m]Even[/name_m] knowing it now, I still never associate the name [name_f]Ada[/name_f] with any sort of acronym.
