Is anyone seeing A LOT more ads on Nameberry lately?
I am taking 2/3 ads on name pages between the headers and the typed descriptions. A huge chunk of ads in the comment section before the Disqus section shows up, things like that.
Not just the usual banner ad at the top or the standard ones that show up at the end of a page.
I use the mobile sites, iPhone and iPad if this makes a difference.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering if there’s a reason for this? It makes site navigation difficult.
I am having the same problem. A lot of them randomly take me to another web page which is annoying. I’m also on the mobile site as well via iPad usually. I was worried it was only me and I’m not too sure how to fix it
I didn’t say anything because I wasn’t sure anything could be done about it, but I have noticed a lot more ads popping up after a page has loaded. It’s really annoying because I’ll click on, for example, a thread. Then an add pops up below, and my screen displays the page accordingly. This throws everything off and I end up clicking on either the ad or the name of the user who started the thread instead of the thread I want to read! I’m absolutely willing to ignore this problem at this level if there’s nothing that can be done, but it would be nice not to have to
On my phone and iPad, definitely! It’s gotten to where I only use my laptop now. [name_m]Just[/name_m] easier and no ads. I guess I wouldn’t mind the ads if they didn’t “jump” or cover the whole page, so I don’t accidentally click them and get redirected…or if they wouldn’t pop up every time I click on a new page.
Huge thank you to the mods and techy people, though I know this has been an ongoing situation…hopefully it can be straightened out soon
I was going to make a thread about this until I saw one was already made. I use my laptop and it’s horribly annoying. The page always bounces around and it’s laggy. I took a screenshot of a page where there was nothing but the ad. I scrolled all the way down and there was nothing. There are also ads that take up the whole page where nothing of Nameberry shows.
I have this, too. The ads (on my laptop, which is what I use primarily) often “jump” and don’t allow me to use NB/move the page away from the ad at all. On my phone, the ads do behave as pp have described.
I may be in the minority with this suggestion, but if [name_f]Pam[/name_f] and [name_f]Linda[/name_f] were open to the idea, as I know ads bring in revenue that keeps the site maintained and running, but I would be open to, and happily pay a reasonable annual fee to have a premium ad free edition of Nameberry. I think many other die hard berries would be willing as well. Obviously keep the site free for those who are fine with ads etc and the one time users, but a lot of sites do publish ad free for users willing to pay, just a thought!
All better except for the lagging. I just installed an ad blocker. I don’t like to install add-ons, but it’s working and will allow me to keep using this site.
Along with the ads, I am now getting an Amazon pop-up. Within a few mins of being on NB it pops up, you have to go off and back on NB, and the cycle repeats. I take breaks from NB because of the issues. Things are always fine for a few days or a week when I come back and then the issues start up. I have been pretty quiet about this but it’s been happening for years (the ads, some making you go to new websites) and I am afraid less and less people are going to be willing to put up with it. NB is a great site, it would be much better (and safer for everyone, taken to unknown sites is not safe) if these issues would be fixed. I use an ad blocker and NB is the only place there is issues.
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]’t heard of any action yet, but mine have gotten substantially worse, with an ad popping up from the bottom of every page now that takes up half the screen.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I’m so sorry this is such a huge problem for some of you.
It is very much being addressed, but unfortunately it’s not as easy as just turning off the ads. [name_f]Every[/name_f] user sees different ads depending on where they are and which platform they’re using, and these intrusive ads and redirects seem to be attaching to some innocent ads for some people, but there is no simple way of finding out which ones and under what circumstances it happens.
Only [name_f]Pam[/name_f] has actually seen some of these ads first hand, but after an OS update they stopped for her (worth a try if anyone having this issue hasn’t updated for a while).
Because we’re not actually seeing them ourselves, any info you can give us about where you are on the site / what you’re doing / any other ads or popups you’re seeing right before these malicious ads appear would be super-helpful. You can either post the info here or email it to support@nameberry.com
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! These ads keep popping up, they are hard to avoid clicking on as I am on android mobile and they basically leading to like crazy virus scam websites. I love nameberry, thank you and keep up the great work!
I am afraid my phone is going to get a virus from these ads. When I use the site from my desktop, some full page ads appear such as a hair dye ad (Loreal I think?), but I don’t experience the mal-ware ads on the desktop. Not sure if this information was helpful, but I hope this issue can be resolved by your capable staff thanks guys
