Adalei

Has anyone heard of the name Adalei or Adalai before? I was wondering what everybody thought about this name. [name]How[/name] would you pronounce it? Thanks Berries!

[name]Ad[/name]-uh-lay.
I know a male [name]Adlai[/name], like [name]Adlai[/name] [name]Stevenson[/name] and sometimes he’s [name]Ad[/name]-lay & sometimes [name]Ad[/name]-uh-lay…I always thought ithad a feminine sound, but I prefer it on a boy.

it looks like a weird combo of [name]Adlai[/name] and [name]Adeline[/name] or something. I know people use Addalie, but i’m not a fan at all - there are plenty of proper names that have a similar effect - [name]Adelie[/name], [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Adela[/name], [name]Adelyn[/name]… Adalei just seems confused in comparison.

[name]One[/name] vote for a boy & one vote for confused. I would love to hear some more opinions on this name :). Thanks Berries!

I would say ad-ah-lie (as in the word “lie”, not the ending of something like [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Aurelie[/name], [name]Julie[/name], etc.). I like it a lot, actually. I know someone who was planning on using Addalie (said the same as I would pronounce Adalei/Adalai) if she had a daughter this time around. She didn’t, but I still grew to love the sound because of how much she talked about it. I’m not sure how you would spell it to make it look both classic/not-trendy while still having a very easy to grasp spelling, but I do think it’s really pretty. I like it much more than [name]Adalie[/name]/[name]Adelie[/name] (add-eh-lee).
