Adaline/Adeline

What do you berries think? Which is your favorite spelling?
Is it too trendy? And is the nn [name]Ada[/name] too much of a stretch?
Oh, and lastly, are [name]Adeline[/name] and [name]Elena[/name] too close as sisters?
Thanks for any replies, sorry about all the questions!

I’m always in favor of spelling a name correctly, so [name]Adeline[/name] gets my vote. [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Adeline[/name] would be wonderful sister names, and [name]Ada[/name] is not a stretch, even with the [name]Adeline[/name] spelling. It’s hard to say if [name]Adeline[/name] is trendy or not, old lady names are trendy but classic at the same time. My great-grandmother was [name]Adeline[/name], so it would never seem trendy to me

[name]Love[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]! (definitely this spelling) I don’t find it trendy at all and I think the nickname [name]Ada[/name] works. I love [name]Elena[/name] too and don’t think they’re too close for sisters. If you’re worried, you could always call [name]Elena[/name], [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Lena[/name] as a nickname.

I also love [name]Adeline[/name] (spelled this way). It is a little bit similar to [name]Elena[/name], but I don’t think that should stop you from using it.

By the way, I [name]LOVE[/name] so many of your current contenders. Lots of them are on my long list (many my hubby has vetoed :frowning: ) – [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name]. Great names!

I love the name, [name]Adeline[/name]. I do not think that it’s too popular. I only know one [name]Adeline[/name]. And I think it’s the perfect name to go with [name]Elena[/name]. Also, [name]Ada[/name] works well!

I also vote for the ‘e’ spelling - just think it looks prettier, and agree you could still use the [name]Ada[/name] nn - don’t see any problem with that!

I love [name]Adeline[/name], with the original spelling. I’ve always thought [name]Ada[/name] would be the perfect nickname. I think that on Nameberry we have a skewed perception that lovely vintage names like [name]Adeline[/name] are becoming extremely popular because lots of Berries are buzzing about them. That really isn’t true–I’ve never met an [name]Adeline[/name] but I do have one on my family tree from the 1800’s. Such a gorgeous name.

Definitely ‘[name]Adeline[/name]’ - that spelling is too classic to change up! I think the nickname [name]Ada[/name] is adorable, too. The name goes well with sister [name]Elena[/name]!!

I also vote [name]Adeline[/name]
