Adam and Eve?

[name]Hi[/name]. My hubby and I are due in [name]June[/name], and right now we’re debating girl names. I love the name [name]Eve[/name], but my husband thinks we can’t use it because my sister’s son is named [name]Adam[/name]. We do spend quite a bit of time with my sister and her kids, but they would be in different schools, and 5 years apart. [name]Adam[/name] also has a little sister named [name]Madeleine[/name], so it’s not like there would only be [name]Adam[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]. What do you guys think? Can we do [name]Eve[/name]? Thanks for your opinions!

Since [name]Adam[/name] is your nephew and not your son, I don’t see a problem with you using [name]Eve[/name].

I think it’s fine for cousins. For siblings it would definitely cause a giggle but I don’t think a cousin should stop you at all. [name]Eve[/name] is a gorgeous name (though I may be biased since I have one!).

Also you could consider [name]Genevieve[/name] and still call her [name]Eve[/name] if that would sway your husband.

I agree with Saracita and pansy. I think since [name]Adam[/name] will be her cousin it’s not that big of a deal. [name]Eve[/name] is a lovely name and I think you can definitely still use it.

Some other options you could do and use [name]Eve[/name] for a nn:
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Evenie[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]

Good luck!

I think it’s fine since they’re cousins and five years apart.

If it’s really something that bothers you then what about [name]Evelyn[/name], but call her [name]Eve[/name]? At least that way you have the fall back of “Well her full name is [name]Evelyn[/name], so.”

Yes it’s fine; [name]Adam[/name] is your nephew not your son, so I don’t see any problem at all.

I agree with all pp. Seems fine to me. I also love [name]Eve[/name] as a nn for [name]Genevieve[/name].

oh thank goodness you are referring to your nephew! When I saw the title of this post I assumed it was your son who was named [name]Adam[/name]! haha. Cousins- totally fine! Go for it!

I agree with everyone else. [name]Eve[/name] is fine! They’re only cousins, and yes, I’ve been around some of my cousins a lot, but I doubt anyone outside your family would even notice it.

If it still bothers your hubby, though, I think [name]Evelina[/name] or [name]Genevieve[/name] (as others have mentioned) would be great alternatives! You could still use the nn [name]Eve[/name]/[name]Evie[/name].

Good luck!

Thanks, Everyone. I’m totally ready to make my case for [name]Eve[/name] (or some [name]Eve[/name]-related alternative) now!

I agree that it is fine since [name]Adam[/name] is not your son. If he was that might be a little weird but since he is not I think its fine. I don’t anyone outside of your family (and nameberry now  ) would ever realize the connection
