I’m looking to add to my short list. Now that the timeframe I plan to start trying to conceive is just months away my very very long list has been completely gutted. I just can’t see myself using any of the names on my child. I now have exactly one girl name that I love on my list - [name_f]Katarina[/name_f].
I love these two, but I’m hesitating because of the issues I have with them:
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f] - I have a lisp and when said out it comes out as [name_f]Lil[/name_f]-lif.
Adalind - I absolutely love the spelling, but there will definitely be issues with it in the future. Also, I know it’d blend in with all the [name_m]Ad[/name_m]- names.
If it helps my boys short list is [name_m]Henrik[/name_m], [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspar[/name_m].
[name_f]Katarina[/name_f] is lovely, and I adore Adalind! (Q: do you pronounce Adalind with a long a or short a at the beginning?) And, I must add, Adalind [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] are stunning. I definitely prefer [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] to [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]? I think it’s beautiful:)
I have some suggestions building up in my head, but it would be nice to know exactly what you are looking for so I don’t give you an unhelpful list. Like are you going for more feminine, strong, bold, outside the top 100, etc. what?
I go back and forth with the Adalind pronunciation, but I usually pronounce it as [name_m]Add[/name_m]-uh-lind.
I know I like names that are similar to popular names([name_f]Katarina[/name_f] = [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], Adalind = [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] = [name_f]Lily[/name_f]). I don’t care much about how popular names are. I’m a nicknamer so I do like to have nickname options. I described my style for boys as classic with a twist and I think that fits for my girls too. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!
I really love [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]! Gorgeous!

I prefer [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] in your sig to both [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] and Adalind.
Not only does Adalind blend with the “[name_m]Ad[/name_m]” names, out loud it sounds like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], too. Looks pretty on the page, though.
Thank you everyone! I do like the names in my signature, but I don’t love them and I can’t see myself using them as first names. Thank you for the comments on [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. It was really just thrown together suddenly and I wasn’t sure about it.
@halfkoreangirl
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] on Fefe/[name_f]Lissie[/name_f]/Flicka - I love that you suggested Flicka with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I absolutely love it, but it dropped off my list because of comments a few years ago in one of my threads because of the horse connection. It hasn’t lost a spot in my heart, though! If it wasn’t for that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] would still be on my list. I’m going to reconsider it again.
@emmamay
I really like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and could see myself loving it over time. I considered it before for the literary connection and to honor my Grandma [name_f]Mattye[/name_f]. I think I dropped it [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is no longer on my list. I kiind of love it without a nickname, but I wonder if [name_f]Millie[/name_f] would work as a nickname. I do like [name_u]Mattie[/name_u], but [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]/[name_f]Addie[/name_f] is so popular.
@anyagreenwitch
I love Daiisy, but not as a full name. I don’t like any of the usual longer names. Someone mentioned it in a thread as a nickname for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] which I absolutely love, but I’m not sure if it works. Maybe with the combo [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]?
Katarina, Lilith and Adalind is quite the eclectic set!

I’m seriously considering adding [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] back on my list. It was on it a long time ago, but I had so many [name_f]Ro[/name_f]- names and ending up with just [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] left. Hmm. I think I’m going to add [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] because [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] no longer appeals to me. I use to dislike the [name_f]Roz[/name_f] sound, but after seeing a little [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] on my Facebook feed daily the name has really grown on me.
