Added some new names to our list - WDYT?

Had a productive name discussion with my boyfriend tonight! Here’s what I’ve added to our list:

[name]Daria[/name] - I’d never considered this before, but I plugged some of his names into nymbler & eventually this came up. We both said, “I can dig it,” so onto the list it goes
[name]Ramona[/name] - we were discussing [name]Ramona[/name] Falls (the band), so on a whim I asked him how he felt about [name]Ramona[/name]. I was completely surprised when he said he liked it, actually. I’m not 100% sold yet, but I could perhaps be convinced?
[name]Claudia[/name] - I’ve loved this for a while. I think it was the association of CJ Cregg (of the [name]West[/name] [name]Wing[/name]) that tipped him over to ‘yes’
[name]Phoebe[/name] - Also been on my list for ages. He thinks he might kind of like ‘ph’ in names, and also Greek names
[name]Penelope[/name] - Ditto above, except that it doesn’t have a ‘ph’. I feel like we might disagree about nns if we used this as a first name, and I’m more inclined to use it as a mn atm, anyway.

  • names he wants to think about, told me to come back and see how he feels about them after a while: [name]Nina[/name] (he’s not sure why he doesn’t like this, but he thinks he might have known a [name]Nina[/name] and not liked her), [name]Daphne[/name] (it’s not so much that it’s linked to Scooby Doo, but more that he thought she was a crappy character), [name]Margo[/name] / [name]Margot[/name]

Already on our list: [name]Athena[/name], [name]Nona[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Nadia[/name], [name]Moira[/name]

Thoughts - opinions, recommendations, whatever - would be more than appreciated. Thanks in advance!

[name]Ramona[/name] - love it! I think it has old western feel, but I love it for it’s sweet, gentle sound
[name]Daria[/name] - once knew one [name]Daria[/name], dislike her, but name is ok
[name]Claudia[/name] - prefer Italian pronunciation, but nice name anyways
[name]Phoebe[/name] - love this one too, but prefer [name]Ramona[/name] because it’s more unexpected
[name]Penelope[/name] - although I prefer short names longer middles, every time I see [name]Penelope[/name] in the middle, name combo is disaster, choose first name wisely.
[name]Nina[/name] - popular name in my country, but I think it has choppy, abrupt, ugly and forced spunky-ness and dull sound. I am not saying this because popularity, I feel like this truly.
[name]Daphne[/name] - love
[name]Margo[/name]/[name]Margot[/name] - love [name]Margot[/name], but I can’t use it.
[name]Athena[/name] - nice one
[name]Nona[/name] - grandma
[name]Laurel[/name] - [name]Laura[/name] is better
[name]Fiona[/name] - love
[name]Nadia[/name] - dislike very much
[name]Moira[/name] - nice one

I like [name]Ramona[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] the best! [name]How[/name] about [name]Lena[/name] (could be a nn for [name]Helena[/name] or stand on its own), [name]Aurora[/name], or [name]Aurelie[/name]/[name]Aurelia[/name]?

I like all except [name]Daria[/name]. Not sure why, but mabybe because I prefer similar name like [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Maria[/name], and prefer [name]Darius[/name] for boys rather than using [name]Daria[/name] on girls.
I especially like [name]Ramona[/name] here, it’s unexpected and very underused.

[name]Daria[/name] - I really like this name! Very melodic. You may also like [name]Dara[/name] and [name]Dahlia[/name].
[name]Ramona[/name] - I just added this to my list recently. I’m not totally sold on it either, but it definitely has unique qualities in that it is familiar but rare, spunky but elegant, and quirky but beautiful.
[name]Claudia[/name] - I can’t picture this on a child.
[name]Phoebe[/name] - I really dislike this name and I’m not sure why.
[name]Penelope[/name] - I am not sure how I feel about this one, but it flows really nicely and is cute and pretty!

[name]Nina[/name] – I don’t like it
[name]Daphne[/name] – Pretty and light but also makes me think of a ditzy girl for some reason.
[name]Margo[/name] / [name]Margot[/name] – Simple, strong and feminine

Of the names already on your list, I love [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], and [name]Nadia[/name]!

Other names you might like:
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Eponine[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Althea[/name]

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Awesome suggestions - I like almost all of them

[name]Lena[/name] / [name]Helena[/name] - I do like [name]Lena[/name] a lot, actually. I wonder if he would? He has an aunt named [name]Lana[/name], so I’m not sure if he might feel it’s too close. I also really love [name]Leda[/name] and he doesn’t seem to be into that, but who knows? [name]Helena[/name] was my #1 name a few (well, several) years back, and I do still love it. I don’t think he does, though. :frowning:
[name]Aurora[/name] - My cousin named her daughter this, so it’s off the table. I prefer [name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name] / [name]Aurelia[/name] - So, yes, I love [name]Aurelia[/name]! He…does not. I like [name]Aurelie[/name], too, and actually had a student with this name, but everybody seemed to say it as “orally”. That kind of turned me off of that particular variation
[name]Dara[/name] - I like this! But [name]Dara[/name]‘s also a boys’ name (and a reasonably popular one in some English-speaking countries, though certainly not in mine), so that makes me hesitate
[name]Dahlia[/name] - I like this as well. I’m not sure how he’ll feel about it - will have to ask!
[name]Antonia[/name] - Hmmm. Well, I don’t dislike this by any means, but I don’t know if it’s really pinging anything either. It’s definitely one to think about!
[name]Eponine[/name] - It’s pretty, but so very [name]Les[/name] Mis, and I never really ‘got’ the whole [name]Les[/name] Mis thing.
[name]Flora[/name] - [name]Love[/name]! I think he’s nixed it before, but maybe not…
[name]Hazel[/name] - I like [name]Hazel[/name], but I don’t know if I could picture it on my own kid. I think he thinks it’s an old lady name or something, too, despite evidence to the contrary
[name]Althea[/name] - Probably too close to [name]Athena[/name] to properly consider, but I really do like this. [name]Anthea[/name], too
