Would you consider the name of a snake, which I have only neutral or positive vibes about personally, as I love nature themed names. I think Adder sounds really cool.
Adder does have an appealing sound. Iâd maybe use it as a middle
Itâs nice but I would only consider it as a middle or nickname personally. You might like Adler which is similar and also has a nature meaning (eagle)
i think it sounds cool, but on paper all i see is udder and i canât really get past that. i definitely wouldnât consider it as a full first, but it could maybe be cool as a middle.
I also had two immediate gut reactions, and neither of them were positive: the snake, which I know is your intent but is quite frightening to me, and the word âudderâ. But then I thought of [name_u]Adler[/name_u], which I completely love. Being so close to [name_u]Adler[/name_u] could either make this word a little more accessible & familiar as a name, or offer an excellent alternative if you like the sound but not the negative vibes people are getting.
I wouldnât use Adder
I wouldnât use it myself but Iâve had a minor crush on it for several years now, though primarily because I absolutely adore snakes. I also love the old Blackadder episodes. Iâm not really hearing the resemblance to âudderâ but thatâs probably just down to accents. And as far as I can see, if people are happy naming their sons after other predators like [name_u]Fox[/name_u], [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] etc., then why not Adder as well?
But, if you have an issue with the predominantly negative response, you could always opt for the Hebrew/biblical name [name_m]Addar[/name_m]. The pronunciation does change a bit but I think it still captures the essence of Adder, with the potential if being better received. But, like I said, I think Adder is a fab name!
I donât love Adder but I do like the similar [name_u]Adler[/name_u]
I saw a snake themed CAF and [name_m]Graham[/name_m] Adder was on there, I quite liked it. I think the snake is really cool but âAdderâ definitely also makes me think of Adderall, if thatâs good or bad idk.
