Addie or Evie

[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] “[name_f]Addie[/name_f]”
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]”

I love [name_f]Addie[/name_f] but my husband is so so. He likes [name_f]Evie[/name_f] but I’m afraid it will be misprounced with a short e or long e. I like ee-vee better than Eh-vee but Eh-vee is more consistent with [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
Could we call her Ee-vee with the name [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]? Are there other names besides [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] that could have [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (ee-vee) as a nickname? Any names similar to [name_f]Addie[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f]?
Also with both of these names we are thinking [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] will be the middle name because [name_m]Joe[/name_m]/[name_u]Jo[/name_u] is a family name. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is the only [name_u]Jo[/name_u] middle name I like. Did [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] steal that name forever? I don’t particularly like [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], just the middle name [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] or [name_f]Jolee[/name_f].

[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is beautiful.

I’d suggest [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (ee-dee), if you’re still looking for alternative ideas. It’s sort between [name_f]Addie[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f], so maybe you’d both like it.

I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] as a full name, but I prefer [name_f]Evie[/name_f] to [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. I especially like it as a short form of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Either way, both [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] are lovely choices.

I always assume [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is pronounced “ee-vee” when I see it, no matter what it is short for, if that helps.

Others:
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] “Haddie”
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] “[name_f]Maddie[/name_f]”
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]

I also prefer the full name [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is a perfectly acceptable nickname for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I like the previous poster’s suggestion of [name_f]Edie[/name_f] too.

I prefer the “ee-vee” pronunciation for [name_f]Evie[/name_f], too. If you’re worried about the [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] pronunciation, you should know that [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] can also be pronounced “Eev-lin” as well, instead of “Ev-ell-in”.

However, I adore [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and personally prefer it to [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] either way.

I prefer [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and I think nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (Ee-vee) can work fine.

Both are cute, but I love [name_f]Addie[/name_f]

I always pronounce [name_f]Evie[/name_f] with an “ee” sound. I like it better. Yes, you can use [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and, regardless of how you pronounce the full name, pronounce [name_f]Evie[/name_f] in your preferred way. It’s the default way where I live, but other areas may be different. I am in the south of [name_f]England[/name_f], UK. I like [name_f]Addie[/name_f], for names like [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Adeliza[/name_f], [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], but am not a fan of [name_u]Addison[/name_u].

I’ve never known a [name_f]Evie[/name_f] to be pronounce Eh-vie. [name_f]Susan[/name_f] Sarandon has a daughter she named [name_f]Eva[/name_f] (pr: Eh-va) but other than that I agree with most that this shouldn’t be a problem.
We have friends with an [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] who is called [name_f]Evie[/name_f] exclusively. But I kind of feel like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is waaay too close to the sound of [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f].
[name_f]Remember[/name_f]: if YOU determine to name your baby [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] (which I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!) and call her [name_f]Evie[/name_f], people will take YOUR lead on this. And that will be what it will be.

I prefer [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. There are tons of Addies.

I love [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and I think most people will automatically say ee-vee, so there won’t be pronunciation issues unless you want it to be pronounced differently.

Other names it could be short for:
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Ever[/name_u]
[name_f]Evita[/name_f]
[name_f]Yvette[/name_f]/[name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] (even though they are spelled with Y)
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]/[name_f]Geneva[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]/etc

[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] ([name_f]Addie[/name_f]) gets my vote, it feels like every girl I meet at the moment goes by [name_f]Evie[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Edie[/name_f] too. I don’t like the name [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and we want a full name to go with the cute ee ending nickname. I also kind of worry about it being mistaken for [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] the boys nickname for [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

If you like [name_f]Edie[/name_f] but not [name_f]Edith[/name_f], what about [name_u]Eden[/name_u]?
