Adding a name?

So, I just can not get past the fact that I really feel that [name]Serena[/name] needs [name]Joy[/name] somewhere in her name. Hubby and I love [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] (she is named after family)… but every time I look at her I feel like something is missing. At first we had planned on using [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name]… All of my girls (except my oldest) have three names, but after such drama over her name, in the hospital we quickly decided to leave it at [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]. We both were burnt out over talking about names. Now I regret not putting it, and honestly I yearn to call her [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. I am not sure what to do… wondering if this is a phase that will pass, or something I need to seriously consider. We have not sent out birth announcements yet (she is 8 weeks old today), so I don’t think it would be to “odd” if we added it… Opinions?? and if you would add, in what order???

[name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is gorgeous!

I’m biased, [name]Joy[/name] is a family name for me and I think it’s such a beautiful, simple middle. If you’re feeling the urge to use [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name], I think you should go for it! Besides, adding to her name now might help you erase the memory of name drama and not have that regret bugging you going forward.

And what a lovely meaning, having that “serene joy” right in there, very blissful image.

So you think it would be o.k. to call her [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name], even is [name]Joy[/name] was the second middle name? And would you then explain to everyone you have added a name, or just put it on the birth announcement???

If youre planning to use [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] frequently, then maybe [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] is the way to go. If it’s something you might say as sort of a little pet name at home, I think [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name] flows better and you could definitely still use it!

I might tell close family before the announcement shows up in the mail, just explain that the longer you spent with your little girl the more it felt like “her name” and youve made the decision to add the [name]Joy[/name]. I’d present it as a done deal, dont leave room for negotiation or it might get messy again. Everyone else, they can read that she has two middle names on the announcement.

Personally, I prefer [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] to both [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. Since [name]Serena[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name] have the same number of syllables, I find the flow to be a bit off. If you’re set on using two middle names though, I would go with [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Isabel[/name], since the rhythm would be 3-1-3 instead of 3-3-1.

Personally I prefer the spelling [name]Isabelle[/name] as well, but DH’s grandmother’s name was spelled [name]Isabel[/name] as was her mother’s before her, so it was important to hubby to keep the spelling. Intersting thought on the rhythm… our last name is also 3 syllables, and for some reason when I say [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] and our last name it sounds off to me… Def. would love to call her [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name].

Go for it. [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is beautiful! [name]Joy[/name] is my middle name so I guess I’m biased, but honestly, it fits so great with [name]Serena[/name]. Such a pretty name!

I don’t think there is anything wrong with adding it! And I think it’s totally fine to call her [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] even though her name is [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name]! [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] doesn’t flow nearly as well. And I think adding a name is much simpler than switching the middle names completely! [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is a lovely name/nickname, but the [name]Isabel[/name] really adds class in my opinion! Go for it!

Why would it be odd?

I like both orders. Slightly prefer [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Isabel[/name].

[name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is beautiful! And, yes, sure you could call her [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name]!

Edited for privacy.

I prefer [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] to [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name] or [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name], but putting [name]Serena[/name] [name]Joy[/name] on the card would be fine I think. If I were to add it in, I would do [name]Serena[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. Good [name]Luck[/name]
