Adelaide?

So like any other name obsessed girl in a committed relationship, I started planning our future kids. Luckily, me and my SO have similar taste in names. For girls we both adore Colette, Leah, and I liked Rosalie but he didn’t. So our search for a replacement for [name]Rose[/name] began.
Names I’ve Suggested:
Isabelle
Eden
Evie
Arabella
etc.

Then outta the blue I said to him, “Adelaide?” and he fell head over heels in love with it and the nn [name]Addy[/name]. He said I need to remember that one for our future girl. But I’m not so sure… I know the whole [name]Addy[/name] thing is super popular right now but that doesn’t really bother me. I’m more concerned with just the name itself. What does everyone think? [name]Do[/name] you imagine a little blonde hair blue eyed girl (that’s what she’ll most likely be, genetically speaking)? Any suggestions of other names to go with [name]Colette[/name] and [name]Leah[/name] are welcome too!

Blonde hair with big sparkling blue eyes is exactly how I picture [name]Adelaide[/name]. I love [name]Addy[/name] as a nickname, but [name]Ada[/name] could work too. Some other ideas- [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Mabel[/name].

I like [name]Adelaide[/name], I think it’s pretty and goes really well with [name]Colette[/name]. I don’t feel it goes that well with [name]Leah[/name] though.

I love [name]Adelaide[/name]! It is my newest name obsession!

I know an [name]Adelaide[/name] with the nickname [name]Adi[/name]. I personally prefer the ‘[name]Adi[/name]’ spelling to ‘[name]Addy[/name]’ or even ‘[name]Addie[/name]’. I think it’s a bit more modern looking than the other two. She’s about 25, so I think it transitions well into adulthood. But, I had never seen the ‘[name]Addy[/name]’ spelling before - so that could explain why I’m partial to the ‘[name]Adi[/name]’ spelling!

Thanks for the feedback!! I think I’m really starting to like it

I know what you mean about [name]Leah[/name] though, I really wanted to take it off the list but my SO just won’t have it. He’s obsessed. I just hate that [name]Colette[/name] means “victory of the people” and [name]Adelaide[/name] means “noble” while [name]Leah[/name] is stuck with “weary” and she didn’t have the best life as the wife of [name]Jacob[/name]. He says it doesn’t matter but I dunno.

I know a little [name]Addison[/name] who goes by [name]Addy[/name] and I think it’s a cute nn no matter how it’s spelt!

I have a past bad association with the name [name]Adelaide[/name], but this weekend I met a 20 mos old with the name and I’m smitten. So sweet!

I really like [name]Adalaide[/name]! (but prefer Adalheid) and I can definantly see it on a blue eyed blond little girl  As far as [name]Leah[/name] goes have you considered names that might give you [name]Leah[/name]/[name]Lia[/name] as a nn? I once read a book with an [name]Eliana[/name] in it who went by [name]Lia[/name]

I think [name]Adelaide[/name] goes best on a blond-haired, blue-eyed girl. [name]Lovely[/name] name!

Thanks for all the feedback! Still not sure if I’m 100% in love with the name but it’s definitely gonna stay on my list

I like [name]Adalaide[/name]. Not sure how close you are to having kids, but in my daughter’s (15m) gymnastics class, there is an [name]Adalaide[/name], [name]Adaline[/name], and two [name]Addy[/name]'s. In a class of 15.

I’m not ttc or expecting or anything right now. I’m only 18 and just name obsessed/planning for the future  sorry if it seemed like something else though! Hopefully the popularity will go down by the time I have kids in the next several years, but even if it doesn’t popularity isn’t a huge concern of mine. I’m an [name]Emily[/name] in connecticut and never even had a class with a fellow [name]Emily[/name] in school. [name]Even[/name] when there were others, it wasn’t a huge deal. I love my name.

But thanks for letting me know!

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name], it’s gorgeous. [name]Addie[/name] is my preferred spelling, but I also love the nn [name]Ada[/name] for [name]Adelaide[/name].

I love love love [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Colette[/name] too. I also think [name]Leah[/name] doesn’t fit at all. I might be repeating but what about [name]Emmaline[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Eloise[/name]

I wish I could use [name]Emmeline[/name] so badly! but given that I am an [name]Emily[/name] I just don’t think an of the [name]Em[/name] names are for me :frowning: I don’t care for [name]Vivienne[/name] too much and we have on our list [name]Elodie[/name] which is like [name]Eloise[/name]!
