I’m changing my [name_f]Addie[/name_f] combo again. I have it narrowed down to [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] have significance to me because of the verse in Proverbs 31 about a virtues woman’s worth being far above that of Rubies, or some versions just say [name_m]Jewels[/name_m]. I like that [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] seems to be a more direct link to the verse since most versions say rubies, but I think [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] might flow better with [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f]. Thoughts? Which do you prefer and why?
disclaimer I’m not pregnant or ttc
[name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is my favourite! With [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] being quite unusual I think a more traditional name like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] works well! [name_f]Love[/name_f] the religious reference too!X
I like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] best. I checked translations of the verse and would agree that ruby seems to be the common translation.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f]? I can think of A-del-hide (hard A) or a-del-hide (soft a) or A-del-hade or a-del-hade. I think the nn [name_f]Addie[/name_f] is cute. [name_m]Just[/name_m] an FYI, that [name_f]Addie[/name_f] is very common where I live ([name_m]Pacific[/name_m] NW in the US). I think it’s more common than it appears because most people use a variety of longer names to get to the nn of [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. I know [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]'s, [name_u]Addison[/name_u]'s, [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f]'s, etc.
I would favor the middle names first and the harder to pronounce name second.
Thanks for your opinions, since I keep going back and forth between [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] is good to see that other prefer [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].
[name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] is pronounced a-del-hide, soft a like apple, hide like the name [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]. Since [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] is so uncommon, I like that the nn [name_f]Addie[/name_f] is more common. I try to make sure that my common names have less common nick names and vice-verse.

Wow, I didn’t realize how many R- middles [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] would give me, but I don’t think I’m too concerned with it. I’ve often considered changing my [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] combo to just [name_f]Isannah[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is at this point just hovering at the bottom of the list. Plus, as much as I love my current combos by the time I have kids they probably will have changed so I’m not really worried about middles being too similar to each other.
At one point my [name_f]Addie[/name_f] combo was [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], which although pretty, lacked spunk. I really do like that [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] would [name_f]Addie[/name_f] some spunk. Thanks for your comment! You gave me some more to think about!
