DP is really loving the name [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] right now, but I’m not sold. I would pronounce it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-DEEL-ee-ah, but other people pronounce it differently, so I worry about her having to correct people all the time.I like the variety of nicknames though, [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Addie[/name_f], [name_f]Dellie[/name_f], and [name_f]Lea[/name_f]. Any advice to help me love it? I Prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but the same pronunciation problem is there. I would pronounce it [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-leen, but most people I asked would say [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-line. I would call her [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. Which name do you prefer and why?
I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. I would instinctively pronounce it line, but leen is beautiful too and I would learn. I love the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]!
My first instinct was to pronounce both [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] the way that you intended. I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but only with the nickname [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] (personally don’t like [name_f]Millie[/name_f]). I also think [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] are both becoming very popular (depending on where you live), which might be a factor to consider as well.
I think I prefer [name_f]Adelia[/name_f]. It has a nicer meaning compared to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (noble vs. work) and is less well-known. Also, the pronunciation thing isn’t as bad as you’d think it is. My name is constantly mispronounced the first time, but in my experience, it’s never been that much of a big deal. [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] is fairly straight-forward as well (I can only imagine the other pronunciation would be a-[name_u]DELL[/name_u]-ia). Overall a very gorgeous name!
Also, what about [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]?
Hmm so they both have potential mispronunciations. I think you should decide if that’s a deal breaker or not. If not then ignore that and choose the name you love most. you can just correct people and they should catch on.
Both are good options
I liked the different nicknames with [name_f]Adelia[/name_f]! I’m personally not a fan of names ending in “ia” mostly to do with the sound in the NZ accent - so not relevant to you
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]- I prefer emma-line pronunciation and nickname [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]
I pronounce [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] the same way as you. You might like it more if you pair it with a middle you love; I actually like [name_f]Delia[/name_f] even more.
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Millie[/name_f], but I also pronounce it with the -line ending.
So, considering your pronunciations, I prefer [name_f]Adelia[/name_f]. I don’t think you’d have as many pronunciation problems as you think with either of them.
This is so hard because I love both but I think I’m going to say [name_f]Adelia[/name_f]! It’s distinctive and pretty
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! It’s such a sweet name. I pronounce it the same way you do. I do like [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] and I think it sounds refreshing. I’m used to another pronunciation, but I do not live in an English-speaking country. However, when I tried to pronounce it in English, I said it just like you.
