We are expecting baby girl #2 next year. Her older sister is named [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Naming [name_f]Isla[/name_f] was easy. We went to [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] on vacation and heard about the Island of [name_f]May[/name_f] ([name_f]Islay[/name_f]) and how little girls are named [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] after the island. Fast forward 2 years and we named our first [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. We adore the name and it’s been so hard finding a name for her little sister that we like just as much.
We have 3 names we keep coming back to:
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f](hubby’s fav) (i like it but i love short names)
[name_u]Adley[/name_u](we both like it but are worried it sounds made up)
[name_f]Elle[/name_f](i like this one)(hubby is ok with it)
What do you all think of each name? I want to see what type of feedback the baby would get should I name her one of these. Any other suggestions are also appreciated! Thank you.
I really like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and I think it makes a lovely sister name for [name_f]Isla[/name_f]! However, if you like shorter names, maybe [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], or [name_f]Delia[/name_f] would be more your taste? Or, you could use [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with a nickname to make it shorter.
Adley is very sweet but I agree that it feels a little incomplete. Maybe [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] or [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]?
I like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] a lot! I also think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would be sweet names for sisters. If your husband doesn’t love it, maybe you would both like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Elin[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], or [name_f]Emme[/name_f]?
I think both [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] are great for you, as long as you and your husband both like them! Let me know what you think of my suggestions- I’d be happy to give more if you’d like
Adeline is my favorite! And I actually think [name_u]Adley[/name_u] could be a nickname for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] if you’re worried that it’s too long. I like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] too but prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Maybe a cute nn will make you like the name more?
[name_f]Addie[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lina[/name_f]
[name_f]Linny[/name_f]
[name_u]Ali[/name_u]
I love the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f]!! I’m from [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] so I never used to like it (its really quite popular here) but its totally grown on me!! Its one of my favourites!
I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] but I agree that it seems long with [name_f]Isla[/name_f], maybe something like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Lina[/name_f] might fit better
I also like [name_u]Adley[/name_u] but it doesn’t really fit the vibe of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] for me, they seem too different
Elle is definitely my favourite out of these… [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] sound lovely together! [name_m]Just[/name_m] out of curiosity would you be pronouncing it like [name_f]El[/name_f] or [name_f]Ell[/name_f]-ee? Both would work with [name_f]Isla[/name_f], just wondering
Some other ideas
Isla and [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Cara[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] (ay-lee, reminds me of [name_u]Adley[/name_u])
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/Evie/Evelyn
Thank you! [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] do look good together. The only issue with [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is the middle name. I’m having a hard time finding a middle name that “flows” with [name_f]Elle[/name_f].
Adeline(hubby’s fav) (i like it but i love short names) I do like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and I love the nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. Out of the three I think I would choose this one.
Adley(we both like it but are worried it sounds made up) it does sound similar to [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. I’d maybe go with [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] instead. Maybe [name_f]Haddie[/name_f]?
Elle love [name_f]Elle[/name_f] although I think it is getting popular. Still a good name though.
One suggestion I’d make is I met an [name_f]Isla[/name_f] with a sister named [name_f]Taya[/name_f] and I love the name [name_f]Taya[/name_f]. Hopefully this was helpful.
Adeline ~ really elegant sassy name with a gorgeous vintage flair. I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] feels unexpected especially with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I also really like the nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f].
Suggestions:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
Adley ~ I don’t think this name is ‘made up’ but it does feel incomplete I think [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] feels more put together. Still I think [name_u]Adley[/name_u] is rather trendy especially with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] which is another popular name. I’m not sure if this a concern for you but isn’t a favourite.
Suggestions:
[name_u]Marley[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u]
Elle ~ such a sweet little name! [name_f]Elle[/name_f] feels sophisticated and pretty. I also think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] works well with [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
Suggestions:
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
Thank you! I’m warming up to [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] now. I think [name_u]Adley[/name_u] won’t make the cut. It will be down to [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f]
Adeline works really well stylistically with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. If you find [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] a bit long compared to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] nicknames [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_f]Addy[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f] can solve this.
Adley does sound a bit made up but thats not a bad thing! If its bothering you [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] could work since the emphasis is on adley. Although I do believe this name is stylistically different to [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
Isla and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] go so well together. Since your husband isn’t the biggest fan of [name_f]Elle[/name_f] perhaps [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] or any name beginning with [name_f]El[/name_f] could help warm him up to it. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] could be a great choice for you if you plan on not using the other name in the future.
I would recommend [name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] would make the most sweetest sibling set
First off, I love the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and I think all three go really well with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]! Personally, I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] the best. If you really like [name_f]Elle[/name_f], I think it could be a nickname for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], with the “el” in the middle of the name. Might be a stretch, but it could work if you love it!
That’s cute! I never realized [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] had “[name_f]Elle[/name_f]” inside of it until now. I’ll have to run that by DH to see what he thinks.
