Hello! Hubs and I are having SUCH a hard time coming up with a name for [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2, so I’m looking for inspiration. Our first child is [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and the only name we’ve come up with that we like for our second is [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] go together nicely, however, I know the chances of an [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] getting nicknamed “[name_f]Addie[/name_f]” is great, and we don’t love that name (nor do I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Addie[/name_f] sound right together). The caveat is that we could like [name_f]Addie[/name_f] as a two-name nickname ([name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], etc.), and I think it “dresses up” [name_f]Addie[/name_f] to fit better with [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but when it comes to middle names that lend themselves to that, we’re stuck.
So two questions:
- Are there any other alternative nicknames for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] so we could skip [name_f]Addie[/name_f] altogether? Preferably that sound nice with [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
- What are some good middle names that lend themselves to an [name_f]Addie[/name_f] “something” nickname?
Ones we’ve considered are:
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] (I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but hubs hates it)
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] (we both like [name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but as a middle name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] feels insubstantial)
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] (but down here in the south “[name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]” sounds like “I declare” lol)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (no good [name_f]Addie[/name_f] nn, though I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]…unfortunately I think it’s too similar to our oldest’s first name, [name_f]Elise[/name_f])
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] (though [name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] sounds the most natural together, we don’t don’t like the name at all)
Also, we have a one syllable last name. Thanks in advance!
