What are your thoughts on the nickname [name_f]Elle[/name_f] for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Or[/name_f] what about [name_f]Allie[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
I love [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] but don’t love [name_f]Addie[/name_f], or Della…
[name_f][/name_f]
And completely separate, any suggestions? Due in 2 weeks. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s name is [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], and I love names like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] etc.
[name_f]My[/name_f] belief on nicknames is if you use them with any type of consistency, they’ll stick. [name_f]So[/name_f] I think while [name_f]Elle[/name_f] & [name_f]Allie[/name_f] are a little stretchy they could work. I do worry about you not liking the most natural nicknames [name_f]Addie[/name_f] & [name_f]Della[/name_f] though, since it’s likely she could be called them from time to time or decide she wants to go by them on her own. That might be a dealbreaker for me. [name_f]Love[/name_f] your classic style, I’ll suggest
It is a stretch but still works, I think. [name_f]Allie[/name_f] works too. Personally I wouldn’t use a name if I feel strongly against the most intuitive nickname(s) though. [name_m]Like[/name_m] you can get [name_f]Elle[/name_f] works, but who knows she or her friends might choose Addie/Adele/Della one day. If that doesn’t bother you though, go ahead.
Agree [name_f][/name_f]- it’s not that [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] ‘Elle’ doesn’t work (it’s lovely), but she’s almost certainly going to be [name_f]Addie[/name_f] to someone[name_f][/name_f] eventually. [name_f]So[/name_f] if that puts you off, best not go there.
[name_f][/name_f]
Absolutely love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] together [name_f][/name_f]- how perfect! That would probably be a better way to get to [name_f]Elle[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
I also like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] with ~ [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cosima[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Verity[/name_f]
I think you can certainly use alternative nicknames for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. [name_m]You[/name_m] can’t guarantee they stick, but you can use them from the get-go and have the best chance.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] are a cute set. I do notice (because I’m a name nerd–not saying most people would notice) that they are somewhat related. They both are derived from words meaning “noble”. One is Old [name_f]English[/name_f] and one is Germanic. One is “noble strength” and one is “nobility”. They’re not directly related. But I thought it was something I’d mention.
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. [name_m]Other[/name_m] ideas:
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] “Elle” or “Allie” could work, but I think its going into it being aware that some people might call her [name_f]Addie[/name_f] as its the more obvious choice?
[name_f][/name_f]
I’d personally decide whether you really dislike [name_f]Addie[/name_f] enough that it would upset you to hear her called that.
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is such a lovely name! [name_f][/name_f] I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] could easily work for her—she’s no more of a stretch than [name_f]Della[/name_f] is! [name_f][/name_f] I think I might prefer some of your other options with big sister [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], though—I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] could work together, but I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] better as a pairing. [name_f][/name_f] If you like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], what about:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is darling; good job there!
[name_f][/name_f]
I love [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but I love just [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I would hesitate big time to use it personally, since [name_f]Addie[/name_f] feels a tad inevitable. And I’m with you in that [name_f]Addie[/name_f] is not the best. I don’t care for [name_f]Della[/name_f] either, but it also feels like a stretch.
[name_f][/name_f]
I think that [name_f]Elle[/name_f] & [name_f]Allie[/name_f] also feel sort of stretch-y, but they’re okay if you like them. If you’re just tempted to use them to avoid [name_f]Addie[/name_f], then maybe [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] isn’t the right choice.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] are all nice. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] are my favorites. All good nick-names there, [name_f][/name_f] in my opinion. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is a timeless beauty. I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Allie[/name_f] work. I would also say that [name_f]Lena[/name_f] works too.
