[name_m]How[/name_m] do you guys pronounce [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]? a-də-LEEN or [name_m]AD[/name_m]-ə-lien? [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious. I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and I’ve been pronouncing it a-də-LEEN. But I just was listening to Sweet [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and they pronounce it the other way. Now I’m curious about which pronunciation is more popular. Please include where you live. Thanks!
I think I pronounce it [name_m]AD[/name_m]-ə-lien.
I pronounce it [name_m]AD[/name_m]-eh-[name_f]LINE[/name_f]. Like a line in the road.
I’m terrible with writing out pronunciations, but I think I pronounce it the same way as ashthedreamer: [name_m]ADD[/name_m]-uh-line is how I’d describe my pronunciation. I’ve never heard the song Sweet [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but I’ve heard so much about it and this makes me want to go find it and listen.
As a sidenote, I’ve never heard it pronounced add-uh-LEEN. The only other pronunciation I’ve heard for this name is [name_m]ADD[/name_m]-uh-lynn, which is also beautiful. I’m having trouble getting my head around the add-uh-LEEN prn.

I’ve always said it as [name_m]Add[/name_m]-eh-line, as it’s on my list and we would pronounce it this way
