We are expecting our second baby in [name]July[/name]. We did not find out the gender. Girls names are where we are having the most trouble.
I think I like [name]Adelynn[/name] [name]Jane[/name], but our son’s name is [name]Adam[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]. I kinda think it is fun that they would have the same initials. AJO
My son says he thinks that [name]Adelynn[/name] is too close to [name]Adam[/name]. ( he is almost 5) Opinions?
Our other girl names are [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name], which is what we would have called him if he were a girl, and [name]Elaina[/name] [name]Jane[/name].
Thanks!
I really like [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I don’t like it together it sounds a little too informal and they both are filler middle names. I’m sorry but I do not like [name]Adelynn[/name] it’s nms
Your son [name]Adam[/name] is a bright 5-year-old and he may be a mini-Nameberry in the making. [name]Adelynn[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] not only share the same initial but an “[name]AD[/name]” beginning and a similar sound at the end. [name]Adelynn[/name] is also VERY trendy. With [name]Adam[/name], I like [name]Jane[/name], [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] for first names. [name]Elaina[/name] is ok. [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] doesn’t flow well. You seem to have an affection for girls names with a pronounced “a” sound.
ok so you like [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] but you don’t like it together, which means NO you don’t like [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] right??? You like the names but separatly as middle names only? is that what you are saying?
in all the research I have done, I am not finding [name]Adelynn[/name] to be trendy. [name]Addison[/name] in several spelling and the nick name [name]Addy[/name] being used a lot- which I would try to avoid, I am not a nick name person- but not [name]Adelynn[/name] specifically. The only list I have found it on is like a top 100 and it was way down the list.
My husband and I have picked the names together. We Like the idea of 2 vowels together [name]Adam[/name] and [name]Ian[/name], [name]Elaina[/name], [name]Adelynn[/name]. Like my cousins children are [name]Aiden[/name] [name]Ella[/name] and …[name]James[/name]. [name]Just[/name] doen’t flow for us.
We had about 4 other names on the long list, but eliminated them They were not all A names and not all vowels either…
[name]Adelynn[/name] feels trendy because the -lyn/n endings are very trendy ([name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name], [name]Madelyn[/name], and [name]Jocelyn[/name] are all in the top 100). I agree with your son, [name]Adelynn[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] are too similar. [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is cute but choppy. I also like [name]Jane[/name], [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] as first names, they go very well with [name]Adam[/name]. Maybe use [name]Elaina[/name] as a middle?
I don’t like [name]Adelynn[/name] [name]Jane[/name] with [name]Adam[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]; not the same style.
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is next best although it doesn’t flow.
[name]How[/name] about a longer name for [name]Kate[/name] or an international variation of [name]Grace[/name]?
Suggestions:
[name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Caitlin[/name]/[name]Kaitlin[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Catalina[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Graciela[/name]
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Grazia[/name]
[name]Adelynn[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] are very similar in sound (bot have the [name]AD[/name] beginning, the UH sound in the middle, and a J middle initial) but are completely different styles. [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is alright, but like others have said, it’s a bit short and choppy.
@merrybells had some great suggestions. A longer [name]Kate[/name] name with [name]Grace[/name] would sound better, especially with brother [name]Adam[/name]. [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is my favorite.
If you want an A name, how about:
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Graziella[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Graziella[/name]
[name]Anais[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Aviva[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Hope[/name] you find something you like.
My thing with using a FULL name for [name]Kate[/name] is: If we are gonna call her [name]Kate[/name] anyway what difference does it make. And really how often do you use a full name? unless they are getting yelled at or its graduation or something
I am not a [name]Nick[/name] name person. I would prefer not to use a name that I am not going to use anyway, and then have to call them something else. ehhh. I know everyone does it- just not my thing…It always annoys me that people try to shorten my Name- which is already a 4 letter name.
[name]Anna[/name] was on the list- but I have a great aunt and uncle who are [name]Adam[/name] and [name]Anna[/name], don’t want to match them. My son is not actually named for that Uncle… I also have a rather annoying aunt that send my Husband nasty emails about not finding out the gender of the baby and played the illness “what if I die, I need to know” card whose name is [name]Ann[/name] and we don’t want it to be assumed to be named after her. So for personal family reasons, we changed our mind…
I know a lot of Abigails…
I have considered [name]Jane[/name] as a first name but… I am not sold on it…
I am not a fan of the other forms of [name]Grace[/name] girls, but thanks, I think it just comes to the nick name - why name them something you don’t want or aren’t going to call them anyway thing…
my husband does go by a “nick name” but with that me him and [name]Adam[/name] are 4 letter names. I think part of my apeal to [name]Kate[/name] is that it keeps the pattern. I am not 100% sold on it- since we were going to use it before to just use it this time and be done, because I think it is used alot.
I just think about signing cards and things with the whole family and wonder does having a longer name work overall.
My husband is stuck too- his last suggestion is go to the hospital with the 3 we have and name her when we see her if she is a girl.
Not sure if I mentioned before- if it is a boy we are pretty much set on [name]Ian[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]. [name]Andrew[/name] after my Grandfather who Passed away this year.
[name]Adam[/name]'s middle name, [name]Joseph[/name], is sorta a family name as well. [name]Both[/name] my Dad and Husband have it as a middle name and there were several other past family members with the name, both [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name], on both sides.
Your son is right! [name]Adelynn[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] are too close especially if they share initials. I totally get the appeal - I love [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Randal[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] (nn [name]Ellie[/name]), which are way too close.
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is stunning, but there’s only one problem - it sounds a little choppy when you say it out loud, because both names only have one syllable. Is there any way you could 1)give her 2 middle names, 2) give her a 2+ syllable nickname like [name]Katie[/name], or 3)only call her [name]Kate[/name] on a daily basis, not [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name]?
I’m not a fan of [name]Elaina[/name]. [name]Kate[/name] is much more distinctive to me than [name]Elaina[/name].
[name]How[/name] about mixing [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Adelynn[/name]? [name]Katelynn[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is nice! (Or [name]Caitlin[/name]).
Depending on how you pronounce [name]Adelynn[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] - you may need to think about how you might get mixed up when calling out to them when they are older… just a thought?
thanks! I never intended to call her [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] daily- it would just be [name]Kate[/name]- or possibly [name]Katie[/name].
My Husband has now suddenly decided he thinks he Likes [name]Elaina[/name] best…
I think most of the names you have mentioned are really classic ([name]Adam[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Ian[/name] [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Jane[/name]). [name]Adelynn[/name] IS really similar in sound to [name]Adam[/name], but also a completely different style. [name]Elaina[/name] is a different style as well. I love the simple classic names and would pick something of the same style. I like [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I agree with others that it’s a little choppy sounding when said together, but how often will that really happen? You’re going to say the first and last name and you’re going to list your children’s first names, so those should flow well. My daughter’s middle name honestly doesn’t sound or look perfect with her first name, but it’s in honor of my grandmother and that’s what’s important.
I think [name]Adelynn[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] are too close (sound, look). [name]Kate[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is pretty, but of course as pointed out very choppy. [name]Elaina[/name] is pretty, and would work with [name]Grace[/name] as a middle name…Or [name]Kate[/name] if you want.
Since you mentioned that you liked four letter names, I’ll suggest a few. Tell me if you like any of them and maybe we can work from there.

[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
I find it waay too matchy for my taste. Sorry! But really, it’s whatever YOU want. I know siblings named [name]Kristina[/name] and [name]Christoper[/name] “[name]Chris[/name]”, and everyone thinks it’s just funny, not weird or laughable.
