[name]Lilith[/name] is lovely :)! [name]Liliana[/name] just sounds too frilly for our little girl, and [name]Lillian[/name] too stiff.
My husband really likes [name]Lilianne[/name], but I think it would be confused with [name]Lillian[/name] a lot!
We were also playing around with [name]Lilah[/name].
[name]Calla[/name] is pretty, but my little sister’s name is [name]Callie[/name].
I like the suggestion of [name]Pansy[/name]!
I think [name]Rose[/name] would be a lovely name for her. Think of her rosy cheeks and her happy smile and how she is bringing love (which a rose represents) into your life.
All the best with your beautiful daughter named [name]Rose[/name] Xiu Ying [name]Paxton[/name], [name]Rose[/name] [name]Paxton[/name]!!
[name]Rose[/name] is my favorite flower. My husband always brings me pink roses on anniversaries and the pink rose was the flower at our wedding :).
It’s also a lot less popular as a first name than [name]Lily[/name].
I really love the way [name]Rose[/name] Xiu Ying [name]Paxton[/name] sounds, too!
Congratulations on your adoption! I can only imagine how exciting it must be to finally know that you will be bringing your little girl home very soon!
I didn’t read every suggestion so I’m sorry if I repeat anything… I love [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] for you… [name]Lily[/name] is a bit more mainstream, but I love its significance for you and your daughter. I didn’t see the names [name]Liliana[/name] or [name]Lilibet[/name]/[name]Lilibeth[/name] suggested, and I think those would be sweet ways to get the nn [name]Lily[/name], too. There’s also [name]Lilias[/name], but that’s a bit more out-there. I think [name]Lily[/name]-[name]Belle[/name] is really cute, too, but [name]Lily[/name]-[name]Belle[/name] with her MN might be a bit too long!
What about:
[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Willow[/name] (or [name]Willa[/name]? They’re not flower names exactly, but I think [name]Willow[/name] fits in very well with all the other flower names)
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]/[name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Primrose[/name] (I like the softer feel of this, but I don’t know if it’s too out-there for you… I think Prim, [name]Posey[/name], and [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name] are adorable for nns, though!)
[name]Azalea[/name] (too harsh?)
Thank you so much!
I really like [name]Willow[/name], even if it isn’t a flower. It seems soft enough to suit our little girl.
I like names like [name]Posey[/name] and [name]Primrose[/name], but with our last name [name]Paxton[/name], the double P just doesn’t work for us :(.
I’d go with [name]Lily[/name]. [name]Lily[/name] [name]Paxton[/name] is lovely. However, it might be viewed as being a “typical” name for a Chinese girl. If that bothers you, then I’d for with [name]Rose[/name].
I don’t like [name]Lotus[/name], or [name]Lavender[/name]. [name]Rosemary[/name] is okay, but I like [name]Rosemarie[/name] far more.
Other ideas:
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name] (it’s not a flower name, but it’s botanical. Meaning “green shoot”)
[name]Briar[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
My favorites on your list are [name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] and I think both sound great with your last name. A few more flower names which have significance/meaning in Chinese culture are [name]Peony[/name], Chrysanthemum, [name]Iris[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], and [name]Lotus[/name].
I think [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Lily[/name] would be lovely. [name]Lily[/name] is quite popular and normally I would discourage parents from going with a really popular name but [name]Lily[/name] is just so, so lovely, I love it regardless of its popularity. The other positive aspect of using a popular name is that it may help her assimilation into American life/culture, particularly as she gets older.
[name]Rose[/name] is also a gorgeous name, you couldn’t go wrong with either one of those!
Congratulations to you on your baby girl! When you make a name decision make sure you come back and let us know!
I didn’t notice if anyone had said this yet but the [name]Rose[/name] is the flower for the month of [name]June[/name]…was she born in [name]June[/name]? That would bring more significance to the name for you too!
[name]Rose[/name] is very lovely…I can picture a precious little [name]Rosie[/name] [name]Paxton[/name]…congratulations on your new little blessing.
It truly breaks my heart to think that this little one was found outside. [name]May[/name] God bless you for bringing her home!
I really like [name]Zinnia[/name] and [name]Rose[/name], and [name]Zinnia[/name] has the benefit of not being vey popular. [name]Zinnia[/name] Xiu Ling is adorable, and [name]Rose[/name] seems like it has significance for you, so either would work so well.
Congratulations on your adoption!
She was born in [name]June[/name]! Wow, my husband and I are stunned by all the brilliance on here! You guys are bringing out connections that we never would have noticed otherwise. We never would have known [name]Rose[/name] was the flower of our little girl’s birth month.
I think this and all our personal connections to the flower has really bumped [name]Rose[/name] up to the top of our list.
Of your choices I really like [name]Lily[/name] best, speaking as an adopted child I can tell you it is not always easy to fit in (which is something a lot of us really really want to do) and unfortunately I think a name that is a little too unique might make things harder. Also I think most people relate the [name]Lotus[/name] to Japanese culture and not Chinese which might cause some confusion about her ethnicity and culture.
I really really love that you are keeping part of her name, I cant tell you what an awesome thing that is on so many levels! I encourage you to use something unique if [name]Lily[/name] is too popular for you (though [name]Lilian[/name] is a great alternative!) but I wouldnt pick something that a lot of people will thing is odd.
Congratulations! [name]How[/name] exciting for all 3 of you! I love all of the connections to [name]Rose[/name]. Sounds like its the perfect choice for all of you!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied to this thread!
You were all so amazingly accepting of our adoption and you opened our eyes to connections to [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] that we never would have known about! Everything you guys have suggested is going to be taken into consideration.
Words can’t express how happy I am to have a baby of my own so soon, and giving her a name just makes me and my husband feel so much more connected already!
Thanks to everyone for helping us find a name for our little flower :)!
