Adoption Game (different version)

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], this is my version of the adoption game by Lindseylloyd052399, as a young person who happens to be familiar with the adoption process.
The link to the original is here:

Idea credits to the original creator! I have just modified it.

Changes I made: I made all the dice d10 for more options. I changed the countries to ones that have international adoption programs. I added more “unable to adopt this year” because the adoption process is very long. I changed the diagnosis to better reflect the disabilities people have. I changed the names and ages. I also changed the naming requirements for foster care adoptees in this (from top 20 to top 100 of the year they were born). I hope people have fun with this.

Year 1 (2010): You and [name_m]Gustav[/name_m] apply to adopt, but your application takes a long time to process and you are unable to adopt this year.
Year 2 (2011): Due to family reasons, you decide not to adopt just yet.
Year 3 (2012): You are finally ready to adopt a child! You choose to adopt with a birthmother. You are matched with a single mother, [name_f]Diana[/name_f], who would like an open adoption with her baby boy. You choose his first name, [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], but you let [name_f]Diana[/name_f] choose his middle name. She chooses [name_u]August[/name_u], after her grandfather.
Year 4 (2013): You love being a family of 3, and although you would love to adopt again, you want to enjoy watching [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] grow first.
Year 5 (2014): After doing some research, you realise that children in foster care need a loving home more than newborn babies. You decide to adopt through the foster care system, and after meeting 3 year old boy/girl twins named [name_u]Grayson[/name_u] [name_m]Connor[/name_m] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] [name_f]Alexa[/name_f], you decide that they’d be perfect in your family.
Year 6 (2015): While you love the twins, you also remember how much you loved the newborn stage with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. You adopt a baby girl in a closed adoption. The biological parents have no input in her name, and you choose [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f].
Year 7 (2016): With 4 children under 6 in the house, you don’t feel ready to add any more just yet.
Year 8 (2017): You and [name_m]Gustav[/name_m] decide that one more child would be lovely, and having been to [name_f]China[/name_f] on your honeymoon, you decide to adopt from there. You are matched with a 2 year old girl, [name_f]Meilin[/name_f] [name_u]Fen[/name_u].
Year 9 (2018): You and [name_m]Gustav[/name_m] start looking at adopting another newborn, but decide to hold off until next year.
Year 10 (2019): You’ve already decided that 6 kids would be the ideal number, so you only want one more. You adopt a baby boy through a closed adoption, and you name him [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m].

I love this! I don’t usually do CAFs but I definitely want to adopt in the future, and my 2 younger brothers are adopted internationally

In 2010 we adopted the sweetest 10 year old girl named [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. We call her [name_f]Callie[/name_f] at home! She was previously in foster care in [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u], and she was born with Albinism.

In 2011 we adopted a 9 year old boy named [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] from [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] (where we live!) He goes by [name_u]Jules[/name_u] most of the time.

In 2012 we adopted a 9 year old girl named [name_f]Mei[/name_f] Hua from [name_f]China[/name_f]. She had no diagnoses at the time of adoption, but while in school here she was diagnosed with dyslexia. The caretakers at the orphanage in [name_f]China[/name_f] called her [name_f]Mei[/name_f] [name_f]Mei[/name_f], which she prefers! As she’s gotten older, she tells her friends to just call her [name_f]Mei[/name_f], though.

In 2013 we adopted a sibling pair from [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u]! [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] was 10 years old and has a mild developmental delay. 6 year old [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] was born HIV positive, but that doesn’t slow her down in the slightest! Lastly is little [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], who was 5.

In 2015 we adopted the cutest 1 year old boy from Vietnam. His name is Thien Huu, and early events in his life have caused some trauma and attachment issues, but he is getting more confident every day!

In 2016 we adopted a 9 year old girl from Ethiopia named name is [name_f]Aida[/name_f] [name_f]Marjani[/name_f]. We were told she was born with a heart defect, putting her on the special needs adoption list, but our doctor here in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] can’t seem to find any trace of that! [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] for us it meant we could bring her into our life!

In 2017 we adopted 9 year old [name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] from [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_m]York[/name_m]. We call him [name_m]Milo[/name_m] at home, but at school it is strictly [name_u]Miles[/name_u]. He was born with a heart defect that was mostly corrected by surgery.

In 2019 we adopted 16 and 15 year old brothers from [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u]. [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], or [name_u]Cal[/name_u], has a developmental delay and needs extra support at home and school. His younger brother [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and him are inseparable!

Lastly, this year we are adopting an 11 year old from Haiti. Her name is [name_f]Esther[/name_f] Roseline, and we are so excited to bring her home into this growing family!

Ages today:
[name_f]Callie[/name_f] (20)

2010: We put in our application and almost immediately were matched with a birthmother! We welcome our newest daughter, [name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. She is a healthy, happy baby that loves being with us. Due to the circumstances of her birth, she will have a closed adoption and will not be seeing her parents.

2011: After doing some research and wanting to grow our family further, we decided to adopt a child from foster care. We were matched with a nine year old boy, [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u]. He is a kind, caring child that loves animals, running, and his baby sister [name_u]Skye[/name_u].

2012: We realized that although we love our children, we miss having a little baby around. [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is growing up! We were matched with another birth mother, and our new son [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. He is the most wonderful baby boy!

2013: We decided to take a break from adopting this year, because having a preteen and two toddlers is quite exhausting! (However, we did add a dog, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], to the family).

2014: We considered adopting again this year, but we were not matched with children.

2015: We decided to adopt from foster care again, this time taking on a seven year old girl, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]. She has a severe developmental delay, but she is progressing greatly and is happy to be home. She adores her siblings, especially little [name_u]Skye[/name_u].

2016: We again chose to adopt from foster care, and this time decided to adopt a large sibling group of a 17 year old girl, [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], a 12 year old boy, [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], and an 11 year old girl, [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]. They are truly a wonderful addition to our family, though we had to work through challenges to help them settle in. [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] and [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] have mild developmental delays and [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] is on the autism spectrum.

2017: We were unable to adopt this year, but we helped foster several children that returned to their families.

2018: We decided to try international adoption, and adopted a 3 year old boy from Ethiopia. His name is [name_m]Ahmed[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (we added the middle name to honor DH’s sister [name_u]Reese[/name_u]) and we are overjoyed to add him to our ever-growing family.

2019: We adopted from foster care once again, this time adopting a 10 year old boy, 6 year old girl, and 5 year old girl. Their names are [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] [name_u]Angel[/name_u], [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f], and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]. They are a joy to be around and love helping out at home. [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] enjoys hiking, [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] loves painting, and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has fun playing soccer with her siblings. [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] are best friends and love spending time together. [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] has a developmental delay, but is getting extra support in school and is already showing major progress.

2020: Our adoption journey came to an end where it started, with adopting a baby from a birthmother. [name_f]Camila[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is our final baby, a little girl. She is happy, healthy, and already loves her siblings! She will keep in contact with her older sister, McKenna.

2010: We adopt our first child with a birthmother. She is a lovely little girl named [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. We chose her name without input from the birth parents, as due to their circumstances she may only choose to have contact with them when she turns 18.

2011: We are unable to adopt this year.

2012: We adopt with a birthmother again. Our son [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Riley[/name_u] will have contact with his biological brothers [name_m]Adam[/name_m] (14) and [name_u]Lian[/name_u] (12), both wonderful young men. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is so excited to be a big sister, and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is already a wonderful part of our family.

2013: This year, we adopt from foster care a 10 year old boy, [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]; a 6 year old girl, [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], whom we call [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], and a 5 year old girl, [name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. [name_u]Michael[/name_u] has a mild developmental delay, and [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is deaf. We are all learning sign language, and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is picking it up especially quickly. They are such a great addition to our growing family! [name_u]Michael[/name_u] has a great big personality and loves spending time with everyone. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, playing outside, and participating in sports. [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is a budding artist, and her favorite thing to draw is our cat [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is starting to show interest in dance, and she is the sweetest little cuddlebug when it comes to sitting on the couch with the whole family.

2014: We are unable to adopt this year.

2015: We are matched with another sibling group in foster care, a 17 year old girl named [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] and a 6 year old girl named [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. Both girls are healthy, kind people that are working through their past to become wonderful young women. [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] is taking lots of honors and AP classes and hopes to go to college to become a psychologist, and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is a bouncy little girl that loves to play and is great friends with [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], and [name_f]Mia[/name_f].

2016: We took a chance and decided to adopt internationally! We adopted a 6 year old boy from [name_u]South[/name_u] Korea named [name_f]Dae[/name_f]-won. He is adapting quickly to life in the US, and is always very positive and upbeat. If he gets sad or angry, he quickly bounces back, and his optimism is absolutely contagious.

2017: We were unable to adopt this year.

2018: We were unable to adopt this year.

2019: We adopted from foster care again. We were matched with the most adorable set of twins, three year olds [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] ([name_f]Izzie[/name_f]) and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] ([name_u]Nick[/name_u]). We are so happy to have the chaos of toddlers back in our home, and the little ones are certainly a lot of fun. [name_u]Nick[/name_u] was diagnosed with dyslexia, and we are thankful that it was caught early so he can get help when he goes to school.

2020: We think this will probably be our last child, so we adopted a newborn, [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], with a birthmother, [name_f]Diana[/name_f], who will keep in contact with [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]. [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] is a wonderful little baby that everyone in the family adores.

In 2020, longtime couple, and newlyweds [name_u]Haley[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Salerno (29) & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] Meyers (33) begin trying to adopt a child. [name_m]Little[/name_m] do they know their home will become home to six children over the next 10 years.

In 2022, [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] receive a call about two sisters in foster care. 6 and 17 years old. [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] are elated, and [name_f]Jada[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (17) & [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] (6) move in that weekend. [name_f]Jada[/name_f] has been diagnosed with ADHD and struggles in school. She has many friends, and prefers getting in trouble to studying. [name_f]Anita[/name_f] is a licensed therapist, [name_u]Haley[/name_u], a social worker, and they felt as a couple they could get [name_f]Jada[/name_f] the help she needs to succeed in adulthood.

In 2024, [name_f]Jada[/name_f] is 19 and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] is 8. Both are excelling in the Salerno-Meyers household. [name_f]Jada[/name_f] is doing well on her medication and has a job at a local climbing gym. [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] are told by an adoption counselor that if they conduct an international adoption they will have an opportunity to adopt an infant. The couple agrees, and they fly to Kiev, Ukraine where they meet [name_m]Maksym[/name_m] Oleksy, a beautiful 1 year old boy. They all fall in love instantly, and [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] bring [name_u]Max[/name_u] home two months later.

Three years pass, and a friend from high school reaches out to [name_u]Haley[/name_u]. She says that her little cousin is seven months pregnant and does not want to keep her daughter. She wonders if [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] might consider an open adoption so that the family can remain a part of the baby’s life. [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] agree.
On [name_u]June[/name_u] 30th 2027, [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] Salerno-Meyers was born. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] was born with down-syndrome, and [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f] were happy to give her a supportive home.

Two years later [name_u]Haley[/name_u] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f]’s adoption counselor asks them if they would like to take in a ten-year old boy with Down-Syndrome and his little sister. [name_f]Anita[/name_f] & [name_u]Haley[/name_u] agree and [name_u]Carson[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (10) & [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] (2) come to live with them.

The next year, the couple visits an orphanage while on their anniversary vacation in Guatemala. They did not completely plan on adding to their family but they couldn’t leave 9 year old [name_f]Jimena[/name_f] Masiel (9) behind. [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], as they call her now, is deaf and a brilliant artist. [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] took to ASL, and the rest of the family is learning as well. She expresses her self wonderfully through written Spanish and beautiful acrylic paintings.

In 2030 [name_f]Anita[/name_f] & [name_u]Haley[/name_u] Salerno-Meyers have 7 beautiful children:
[name_f]Jada[/name_f] Salerno-Meyers (25)
[name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] Salerno-Meyers (14)
[name_u]Carson[/name_u] Salerno-Meyers (11)
