What do you think when you hear or meet someone with this name? I love it’s unique quality, I ADORE that it has that word in it and it’s meaning is lovely. It goes with our baby name criteria as well. But I want some non-biased opinions. Here’s what I came up with:
Adora Lillian
Adora Charlotte
Adora Olivia
Adora Joy
Adora Jeri
All the middle names are family names and we are pretty set on Lillian at the moment. The name also needs to go well with the ever popular (I don’t care I love it) Isabella. I feel like Adora is a little weaker then Lillian as a first but both go well.
Our naming criteria was pop culture. Isabella is named after a character I love from a certain set of novels I’m sure you all have heard of.
Adora is the Princess of Power from DHs favorite Saturday morning cartoon, He-man/She-Ra. She’s the leader of the rebellion and is well, bad ass.
Do you think it can work as a first? Originally I was pushing for Lillian Adora but the other way around is growing on me.
Thank you SO much nameberries! I’m due in Sept. so I don’t have much time left to ponder!
I really like [name]Adora[/name] on its own. It’s sweet, and [name]Isabella[/name] and [name]Adora[/name] are nice together.
Of the middle name options i like [name]Adora[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] the best, closely followed by [name]Adora[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]. What will you use for the mn for [name]Isabella[/name]?
Good luck
Not a huge fan, sorry. It a bit precious for a grown woman and it wouldn’t be a great name on someone who wasn’t that adorable…
Endora? That was the mom on Bewitched? It’s a bit more neutral, but princessy like [name]Isabella[/name].
I like [name]Adora[/name], it sounds like a fresher variation of all the -[name]Bella[/name] names. I also like [name]Eudora[/name] and [name]Isadora[/name] as other possibilities. I really like [name]Adora[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. Here are some other possible combos:
I like it plus you also get the Discworld reference: [name]Adora[/name] [name]Belle[/name] Dearheart, also a badass. Although she didn’t like her name.
I actually (forgive the pun!) adore [name]Adora[/name]! It’s quite princessy, and I love it with [name]Isabella[/name]. [name]Adora[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] was my favorite of your combos–I just liked the imagery and feel of the two put together (plus, I like somewhat rhymey “ah” endings!). [name]Adora[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] caught my eye, too–mainly because I love [name]Charlotte[/name], both as a first and a middle. I do like [name]Lillian[/name], but something about [name]Adora[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] feels off to me–I don’t love it quite so much as [name]Adora[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]. [name]Adora[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is sweet, too, but not quite as interesting, imo, as [name]Adora[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]. I do like the idea of [name]Adora[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Joy[/name], if you’re open to two middles, though.
I don’t like it personally. It seems quite inappropriate for a name, though I think that of most virtue names.
I feel like its very ‘in your face cutesy’ if you know what I mean.
I would love to meet a little [name]Adora[/name]! I think it is very pretty. [name]Isabella[/name] is waaaaaay to popular for my tastes now, but it is gorgeous. I know soooooooo many of them.
[name]Way[/name] too sugary and blatant to be appropriate for a mature woman. Perpetually juvenile to my ears, sorry.
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Adora[/name] is so much more suitable for a woman. [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Adora[/name] too. They’d be my choices by far
I love Liilian [name]Adora[/name]. I think [name]Adora[/name] is a little more suited for a little girl than a woman but if you do choose [name]Adora[/name] as a first name, then don’t give her the MN [name]Belle[/name].
I met a little [name]Adora[/name] in the airport last week! We blew bubbles together, it was very fun. She was a gorgeous, smart half-[name]Asian[/name] four-year-old. It was perfect on her. I can see [name]Adora[/name] working well up through college age; I have a little harder time imagining [name]Adora[/name] in the corporate world, but given that I work in that realm and have dealt with Mycals etc, I know that’s not the end of the world. [name]Adora[/name]'s straightforward to pronounce.
Of your combinations, I like [name]Adora[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] best. But [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Adora[/name] is magic, and I love [name]Isabella[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name] together.
[name]Adora[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]'s great too. I’m not a fan of the matching -a endings of [name]Adora[/name] [name]Olivia[/name], and [name]Adora[/name] [name]Joy[/name] is just too cute for me. [name]Adora[/name] [name]Jeri[/name] feels like a mismatch, maybe save that one for another kid. I wouldn’t mind seeing a sobering (in a good way) middle like [name]Adora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Adora[/name] [name]Margaret[/name].
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Adora[/name] IS magic, I totally agree. This is my issue-- DH thinks [name]Adora[/name] works much better as a first name but I don’t think he’s thinking about how it’ll be for a woman.
I also agree with the minority that its too sweet and precious. It’s too close to adorable. It’s way too girly.
But I don’t have a huge issue with that. I love girly names (obviously with an [name]Isabella[/name]) and it does go so well with it.
If the middle name is just right (more mature) DD can go with it when she gets older. I go by my middle. My first name is [name]Phoebe[/name]. Hard to pronounce and very hard to grow up with.
