Adult name change

I’m looking for names with meaning- strength, rebirth, peace, flight, freedom, etc. I love whimsical, mythological, medieval, fairy tale, nature and word names. Something that fits with my first and middle name. My ancestors came from Germany, [name]Scotland[/name], Denmark, and Mexico. I’ll either be picking up my birth name or using my new name as a last name, depending on how it sounds.

Any ideas?

Sorry to hear what you’ve been through. Good luck with your name change!
Since you have ancestors from Denmark, what about Lykke? Lykke means “happiness” in Danish. That’s all I can think of in this moment.

Dandelin or Dandelion.
Dandelions are a very valuable herb, they are cleansing and are said to promote psychic awareness. It’s called “rustic oracle”, apparently the number of times it takes to get rid of the seeds by blowing on it will tell you the time. And is a plant of divination. It symbolizes that wishes (and hapiness) can come true.

I rather like Lykke. [name]How[/name] do you say it? Lye-kee? It sounds like [name]Loki[/name], which I adore. It could work as a last name, too, I think.

I love Dandelion, but one of my good friends is named Dandelion. We call her Dandy. I’d prefer something that’s all mine.

Thank you both! They’re definitely the kind of name I’m looking for.

It’s pronounced like lyh-kuh, or luh-kuh.

I’m pretty awful with pronouncions, but I would say Lykke is pronounced something like LUU-keh or LUY-keh.

[name]Ah[/name] I see, more like [name]Luca[/name]? I like it!

Lykke is pronounced like LYK-kuh
Other lovely and beautiful, old Danish names: Regitze (meaning “the brave one”), [name]Dagmar[/name], [name]Johanne[/name], [name]Ingrid[/name], [name]Elvira[/name], [name]Maren[/name], [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Asta[/name], [name]Thyra[/name], [name]Margit[/name], Vilhelmine, [name]Selma[/name], [name]Alexandrine[/name], [name]Mathilde[/name], [name]Esther[/name], Vigga, Rigmor, [name]Alma[/name], [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Henriette[/name], [name]Sofie[/name], [name]Amalie[/name], Helle etc.

What about [name]Dove[/name]?
Or [name]Paloma[/name] - dove in Spanish

[name]Humphrey[/name] actually means “peaceful warrior” which is sort of the feel you’re describing.

[name]Lysander[/name] means “liberator”. I could see that as a surname.

[name]Emery[/name]/[name]Amory[/name] means strong, brave

I like Lykke, though I think I would pronounce it Lie-kee on my first try, but mispronunciation doesn’t matter as much with last names.

[name]Lark[/name]

I was playing around with Google translate, and life is [name]Liv[/name] (pronounced as in [name]Olivia[/name], basically) in Danish and [name]Vida[/name] in Spanish.

I’m loving Lykke, [name]Dagmar[/name], [name]Maren[/name] and [name]Lysander[/name].

I also have
[name]Dagny[/name] (new day)
[name]Jane[/name] (for [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eyre[/name], one of my favorite literary characters)
[name]Malu[/name] (peace)

Hmm, there’s something about Glass I like. I’ll have to think about that one, and figure out what it means to me because obviously, glass breaks and that’s the opposite of what I’m trying to convey. But I really like it. I also absolutely love [name]Lark[/name]!

Tanzer- [name]German[/name] surname means [name]Dancer[/name]. Which to me denotes freedom
Fertig- [name]German[/name] meaning ready, prepared
Enns- [name]German[/name] derivative of [name]Anselm[/name] meaning ‘with divine protection’
Frei- [name]German[/name] meaning free
Freud-[name]German[/name] meaning [name]Joy[/name]
Hertz- [name]German[/name] meaning heart
Lenz- [name]German[/name] meaning springtime
Morgenstern-[name]German[/name] meaning morning star
Stark- [name]German[/name] meaning strong/brave

[name]Fairbairn[/name]- Scottish beautiful child

Does your birth name feel more like you? Or do you feel more like you need something different? [name]Do[/name] you have a speific letter in mind so you can keep your initials? It could be a little pretentious but [name]Armani[/name] means “freeman”. [name]Carol[/name], [name]Carleton[/name], [name]Frisco[/name], [name]Franco[/name], [name]Francisco[/name], [name]Fancy[/name] ( I actually know several people with this surname) all have connections to free in their meanings. There Is also [name]Dermot[/name] which means “free from envy” if any of those interest you. Good [name]Luck[/name]!

What about [name]Eyre[/name]? She had to be very strong and fight against a lot of difficult circumstances before she found her way. And the “air” sound has that flight/freedom feel to it.

I like [name]Malu[/name] also.

I think [name]Erica[/name] [name]Scotland[/name] has a nice ring to it

Hey [name]Red[/name]. Good idea!
I’m confused - you’re planning to keep [name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name]. Would it be
(new name) [name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] (last name) or
[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] (new last name)
Is the new name one you’d use in lieu of [name]Erica[/name]?
The name you’re throwing on the fire is the current surname or one of your given names?
Ok sorry to ask the same question like 5 different ways - just want to give appropriate suggestions.

Adding Frei and Stark to names I’m considering. I like the sound and the meaning. I love [name]Eyre[/name], I’m not sure it works with [name]Erica[/name] though. [name]Erica[/name] [name]Eyre[/name]. Too many -e’s? I really feel strongly about [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eyre[/name]. I collect [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eyre[/name] books with my grandmother. I think she’s a remarkable character.

I’m not sure how I feel about my birth name. I used it when I was too young to think about it being my name, and I don’t feel attached to it in any way. I’m not close with my birth father, but he is a good man. I’m considering taking it to make the transition simpler, and picking up a second middle name that will be all mine, a fresh start.

Name might become Last Name if I feel really strongly about it, but for now I’m just considering a second middle name. I don’t want people to call me by a new name, it’s just for me. A little secret tucked in there that makes me happy.

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Ash[/name] (ash as in what fire leaves behind, also a tree with incredibly strong wood, symbolic of protection of children in British folklore, [name]Ash[/name] [name]Wednesday[/name] - resurrection, etc.) Surname possibly.

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Noor[/name] (means “light” in Arabic, great namesake in [name]Noor[/name] Inayat Khan- heroine of the French Resistance) Might work as a surname.

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Magdalene[/name] ([name]Magdalene[/name] gets a bad rap as a “fallen woman” but was a disciple/companion of [name]Jesus[/name] after he “cleansed her of demons,” was an advisor to the apostles, witness to the resurrection… powerful lady.)

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (I think of the daughter of [name]Hester[/name] Prynne, and of wholeness and pure beauty rising from insult/invasion- to the oyster :-b)

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Valor[/name] Maybe surname-material?

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] (actually means “strength, vigor” and a reminder to be loving toward yourself) Could work as a surname.

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Morrigan[/name] (badass Irish goddess queen of war and death!) Could work as a surname.

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Carmen[/name] (fearless, fiery, femme-fatale, great musical association)

[name]Erica[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Green[/name] (English surname. Of course it brings to mind green shoots, new growth, life force)
