Advice on a girls name?

[name]Hi[/name]! I am new to the nameberry boards, but I really don’t want to share my names with family/friends bc if we end up naming our daughter a name that someone tells me they hate…I will never forget that!

Anyway, my 2 year old daughter is named [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] and my husband and I loved that name from the second we knew we were having a girl. #2 is proving to be more difficult.

My husband loves the sound of the name [name]Izzy[/name] (short for [name]Isabel[/name]) - I think it is so cute with [name]Zoe[/name] ([name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Izzy[/name]). I am just concerned that it is way too popular, with [name]Isabella[/name] being #1 or #2 on almost every name list- thank you Twilight. :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you guys think?

The other names we (I) like are - ([name]Elizabeth[/name] is my husbands grandma’s name and he wants to use that as a middle except for [name]Isabel[/name] since [name]Isabel[/name] is a derivative of [name]Elizabeth[/name] - we may use [name]Rose[/name]?)

[name]Harper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - although multiple people have told me [name]Sadie[/name] sounds too much like a dogs name :frowning:
[name]Morgan[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Sydney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (thought [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] was too much) - this happens to be my favorite but husband thinks its too masculine

Any input (or suggestions) would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I think [name]Isabel[/name] works the best with the Zs!! The second one I like is [name]Harper[/name]. I agree with your husband about [name]Emerson[/name]. The “son” ending on a girl is not my favorite.

[name]Zoe[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] is so cute! My favorite is [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rose[/name], I think it’s really pretty. [name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Isabelle[/name] is very beautiful but I’d never use it or any other [name]Bella[/name]/[name]Belle[/name] name because they’re so common and trendy. What about [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Harper[/name] nn [name]Izzy[/name]?

Raven1980- [name]Love[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Harper[/name], but one of my friends daughters is named [name]Eliza[/name] (close enough friends where it would be weird). I was trying to think of another name that [name]Izzy[/name] could be short for too…

I love the [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Sydney[/name] options. (coming from the mom of a little [name]Charlie[/name] girl). I think they both go great with [name]Elizabeth[/name] for a middle name.

All of your combos are lovely! I don’t know any little [name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Isabelle[/name] who goes by [name]Izzy[/name], so I think that nickname (and the [name]Isabel[/name] spelling) will set your girl apart. [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] sounds very lovely, and would offer the nickname/pet name [name]Izzy[/name] [name]Rose[/name], which is quite cute. Not sure I love the sound of [name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Izzy[/name] together, though. I think [name]Harper[/name], [name]Morgan[/name] or [name]Emerson[/name] would go very well with [name]Zoe[/name]. With the exception of [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name], all of your first name picks are unisex choices, so if your husband is worried about that, you may want to stick with [name]Isabel[/name].

Well what about [name]Lizabeth[/name] [name]Harper[/name]? or is that too close to [name]Eliza[/name]?

[name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name] (nn [name]Izzy[/name]) would be fine together. [name]Isabel[/name] isn’t as popular as [name]Isabella[/name] and most girls who have these names go by [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Bella[/name] anyway so I wouldn’t worry about popularity. Unless you know multiple Isabels in your neck of the woods, I would encourage you to choose it. I think it’s the best “fit” with [name]Zoe[/name]. [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] both end in the same sound so that name isnt’ ideal. Personally, I would avoid unisex names like [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Harper[/name], [name]Sydney[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name] as they’re very different in style compared to [name]Zoe[/name].

Some other names for which you could use [name]Izzy[/name]:
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – Maybe this is too old-fashioned sounding for you to want as a first name, but since you mentioned it, I think [name]Izzy[/name] would be a really fresh and cute nn for this!

What about [name]Izabel[/name]? Similar but a bit more funky and still a valid spelling. [name]Izabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is gorgeous.

[name]Zara[/name]?

I like [name]Elizabeth[/name] and most of it’s derivations.

[name]Sadie[/name] is nice, but I don’t like any of the other firsts that you put with [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I think [name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Harper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] work best. Really awesome pairs!

Maybe [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Izzy[/name]? I think that would be really cute. [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Harper[/name]? [name]Zadie[/name] could be cute or [name]Suzanna[/name] nn [name]Zuzu[/name] if you are drawn to [name]Izzy[/name] for the Zs?

I vote for [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name] for the nickname [name]Izzy[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are very pretty!

I was going to say also that you could use nn [name]Izzy[/name] with [name]Elizabeth[/name] as well as [name]Lizzy[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Liza[/name] etc!any nn with 'z’s sounds cute with [name]Zoe[/name] I do love the name Isabelthough too and it is distinct from [name]Isabella[/name]. [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rose[/name] are equally pretty in my opinion however, [name]Rose[/name] is also an extremely popular middle choice if you are trying to avoid popularity!

Thanks everyone! Sounds like the majority like [name]Isabel[/name] ([name]Izzy[/name]) and [name]Harper[/name]. I do agree with Fluzie that [name]Rose[/name] is a popular middle name- it was my grandma’s name and we were trying to do something in the family. My daughters middle name [name]Ryan[/name] is my maiden name…so we wanted to keep with the tradition of having something familiar in the name.

Although, [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Harper[/name] could be cute? Or is that a weird middle name? What about [name]Harper[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]? I hadn’t thought of [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a first name and calling her [name]Izzy[/name]…that could be a possibility too! Thanks for all the suggestions.

A girl I work with is pregnant and were debating between [name]Zoey[/name] and [name]Isabelle[/name]…lol. I was going to suggest [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Izzy[/name] to separate her from the Isabellas…and if she doesn’t like [name]Izzy[/name]…there is a polethera of nns she can fall back on ([name]Libby[/name] is my personal favorite).

I like [name]Harper[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] too. or [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] from your original post.

[name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Sadie[/name] from your list, definitwly. The others are all way too masculine for me.

What about a form of [name]Rose[/name]? [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Rosanna[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name]…[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] nickname [name]Izzy[/name] would be so darling.

I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] could use the nn [name]Izzy[/name]. It’s also popular, but in a more classic way rather than trendy Twilight way. Other than that, I like [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Sydney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I also don’t think [name]Emerson[/name] is too masculine if her nn is [name]Emma[/name].

I agree with most everyone; [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Harper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I love the name [name]Zoe[/name]! Either of these go great with [name]Zoe[/name]. My middle name is Harpe (family name), and I want to use [name]Harper[/name] too because of that, but now it is sky-rocketting in popularity!
