Hey Berries!
So my middle name is [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] - I chose it myself a month or two ago, and I like it, but I’m having doubts.
I didn’t spend much time debating over my middle name. I posted a poll for [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] vs [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], and [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] won. I liked it a bit more, so I chose it.
I don’t mind the connection to [name_m]Mozart[/name_m], but I don’t want to honor him or anything. I like that it’s Italian, since I’m half Italian and my dead name was Italian. However, [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] means “lover of god” and that really bothers me, as I’m not religious and I want nothing to do with religion. The meaning is at the back of my mind a lot lately and it really bothers me. So, should I change it?
Here’s a poll with possible combos. Suggestions are welcome!
- [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Cassian[/name_m]
- [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
- [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u]
- [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]
- [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]
- [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
- Other suggestion
- Keep [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m]
[name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] is a nod to [name_m]Link[/name_m] [name_u]Neal[/name_u], a comedian who I’ve always looked up to. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] is also a nod to [name_m]Link[/name_m] [name_u]Neal[/name_u] (whose name is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] [name_u]Neal[/name_u]), but is mainly for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Darwin[/name_m]. [name_m]William[/name_m] is for [name_m]Bill[/name_m] [name_m]Nye[/name_m]. The rest of the names are names that I like. Of all of my options, I want to honor [name_u]Billy[/name_u] [name_m]Nye[/name_m] the most, but I’m not super keen on [name_m]William[/name_m].
Thoughts on changing my middle name, and what I should change it to? TIA! <3

I’d say change it if you want to! I can understand the concern about the meaning. [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] is my favourite from your options but whatever you end up with would be gorgeous

Revere Amadeus is absolutely wonderful however the meaning is very blunt as you said and if it makes you feel a bit meh about the name then i would say change it to something that really fits your criteria. I absolutely love Revere William i think the flow is lovely and William just balances the gentle and calm feel of Revere! The connections to Bill Nye are great for you too. If you aren’t keen though how do u feel about Willem, Willoughby or Liam? Or Niall for Nye?
my second choice would be August!! x

Revere [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] is lovely, but I understand why you’d want to change it!
My favorites are [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], and [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]!
(I love [name_m]Link[/name_m] a lot too - love the idea of honoring/associating your name with him!

@ethelmary I love [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] a lot too :)) I’m lucky that [name_u]Revere[/name_u] seems to flow well with a lot of names haha
@MargotAbeline I love [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] too, but I’m worried that the meaning will always bother me. I like [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m], although it’s not really my name style and I feel like it’s too common. I love [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], but is it too “pretentious”? I guess it’s a middle (and [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] has the same vibe lol), so it doesn’t really matter. Thanks for the suggestions!!
@skylerros thanks! I like it too :)) I wish the association to the president wasn’t so strong, though
@regionlatbest thanks for your input!! I really love the idea of honoring someone I look up to, which is why I included [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], and [name_m]William[/name_m] :))

I didn’ even think of that, TBH! & I don’t think that it’s a bad association, really.
i don’t think willoughby is too pretentious - it gives me a really bubbly, upbeat feel
also about lincoln, my initial connection is the city not the president (but maybe that’s just a regional thing)

I do have to say that [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] did unfortunately make me think of [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] before [name_m]Link[/name_m] (despite the fact that I’m watching gmm right now
)
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the idea of two middles? I think something like [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] [name_m]Link[/name_m] or [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_m]Link[/name_m] sounds nice!
Also, just saw you considered [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] and I love that so much!! It doesn’t seem too pretentious at all!!!

@skylerros I don’t think it’s a bad association either, but it’s not necessarily what I’m going for, you know?
@MargotAbeline that’s great to hear! I don’t think [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] is too pretentious either, and I really like it :))
I didn’t know there was a city called [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] (although I’m not surprised there is) so it’s probably a regional thing haha
@regionlatbest [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] makes me think of [name_m]Abe[/name_m] too, even though I’ve watched gmm for years. I actually really love the idea of two middles, and I love [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] [name_m]Link[/name_m] and [name_u]Revere[/name_u] [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_m]Link[/name_m]
thank you! And thanks for your input on [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], I love it too! I’m so glad it’s not pretentious haha
