Thoughts on the name [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m]? Middle name [name_m]Clark[/name_m] as an honor name.
He would probably go by [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], but my husband and I like the longer [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] as a full name. We also aesthetically prefer the Biblical spelling over the more common spelling ( [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] ), pronounced the same … but as a first name is it going to be too much trouble to correct people all the time? [name_u]Or[/name_u] would going by [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] make that easier?
Maybe pregnancy brain is making me overthink things? But bring on all your opinions!
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is one of my faves. The [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] spelling isn’t my cup of tea and I do think you will forever be correcting the spelling.
This is my son’s middle name and we do have to provide the correct spelling frequently. We went with the [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] spelling, btw. It isn’t that big of a deal anymore than “it’s [name_f]Sandi[/name_f] with an I” or “it’s [name_m]Zach[/name_m] with a Ch.”
I say just go for the spelling you prefer. He’ll have to spell it out no matter what spelling you choose, so you may as well go with what you like.
This combo was our exact choice if our last baby was a boy! we went back and forth about the biblical spelling too. I know Nathaniel’s and Nathanael’s who spell it both ways, and it is nbd. We have a pretty religious circle so actually I know more Nathanael’s!
[name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] is a recognised spelling, just less common, so while you may have to correct at times I’d go with whichever you prefer. [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] [name_m]Clark[/name_m] is a very handsome combo!
[name_m]Nathanael[/name_m] is my favorite boy name. Unfortunately I never had a son, but I just love it, and this spelling.
As a teacher, yes, he’ll have some trouble with spelling. I hate when certain teachers don’t seem to pay attention, but whatever. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is named [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], and I always feel like that’s a way to see who cares – they try! LOL
The correct biblical spelling (In English) would actually be Netanel/Natanel as there is no th sound in Hebrew. I’d say go for whatever spelling you like best but I think on paper [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] looks nicer than [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m].
