I really love [name]Lyra[/name] (lie-ruh). It has been my favorite for a while. I have toyed with middle names for it and have narrowed it down to [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name], [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Saoirse[/name], or [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. I really love birds, so I’m leaning towards [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name]. Now I am trying to find a name that is distinctly beautiful, yet similar in sound and meaning for her sister. I really like [name]Clara[/name] (Cl-are-uh not Cl-air-uh), [name]Calla[/name], Eidelyn, [name]Wren[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Johanna[/name]…I can’t decide. I thought going with [name]Clara[/name] [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name], but are they too similar? I don’t know. I hate nicknames, so I won’t shorten anything. Ideas? advice?
I don’t find them too similar. It is kind of a mouthful to say them together but if that doesn’t bother you then I say go for it.
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] is sweet but sounds very much like a name a celebrity would choose but that might not be a problem, lol, was just my first thought.
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] would get my vote because [name]Lyra[/name] is already unique enough and [name]Josephine[/name] helps to balance that and give her a more traditional name.
I like [name]Clara[/name] and the pronunciation you have chosen but not with [name]Lyra[/name] and not in the combo [name]Clara[/name] [name]Wren[/name] because I find it hard to say.
[name]Lyra[/name] & [name]Beatrix[/name] is what I would go for, they fit together very well. [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Clara[/name] would work well but more so with [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] than [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name].
Other ideas…
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Cleo[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Monet[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Camille[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Willow[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Eden[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] & [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Wren[/name] is sort of a tongue twister. I love [name]Evangeline[/name], but if you don’t like nicknames, that’s out, because it will inevitably get shortened to something, whether you like it or not.
I like [name]Lyra[/name], but hopefully people won’t pronounce it leer-uh. [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is my favorite, because [name]Sparrow[/name] doesn’t seem like a name to me. [name]Lyra[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] (and I just love [name]Wren[/name]) go together well. What about…
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] [name]Johanna[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] [name]Saoirse[/name]
I like [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Starling[/name] is sweet too if you like bird names. Maybe [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lark[/name]?
I have 4 year old twin girls and my advice to you would be to choose names which each have a distinct sound difference and that you can comfortably say together. Practice yelling them up a staircase a few million times before you choose!
I like the idea of giving both of your girls a bird name! You can call them “my little chickadees” or “come along my ducklings!” Cute. [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and:
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lark[/name] (props to Clairelondon)
[name]Josephine[/name] Swift
[name]Saoirse[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (nn Magpie instead of [name]Maggie[/name])
OR! Drumroll… Each gets one bird name and one constellation name (since [name]Lyra[/name] is a constellation)
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Carina[/name] [name]Wren[/name] (the constellation [name]Carina[/name] is “the keel” but [name]Carina[/name] also means “dear one”)
…or [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Lark[/name] (after constellation [name]Gemini[/name], the twins)
I love [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and I adore both [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] (I love your pronunciation of [name]Clara[/name], it’s my favorite, too.) but I don’t think they flow well, too much R going on. My second choice is [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Wren[/name].
Oooh that would be so awesome! I also like the sugegstion of [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lark[/name].
My first thought was [name]Vega[/name], [name]Rigel[/name] and [name]Adara[/name]. My mind jumped straight to short celestial names (stars).
Great suggestions!!
I also like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lark[/name] (both names are in my sig, haha). It still roughly fits this theme because [name]Bellatrix[/name] is the name of a star in [name]Orion[/name].
My vote goes to [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] [name]Johanna[/name]. A beautiful pair that have similarities to connect them, but are still very distinct. I would veto any name that also ends in A as a first name for your second twin. My mother is a twin and her mother is a twin and they’ve never gone by their actual names because they’re too similar to their twins’ names.
oh! [name]Lyra[/name] and [name]Adara[/name] would be so beautiful! (I forgot how much I love [name]Adara[/name], from one of my favorite books, too).
Honestly, I do think [name]Lyra[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] are too similar. [name]Lyra[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] would get my vote. [name]Lyra[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Calla[/name]?
