I just found out we are having a girl and I love the name [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. Problem is I have a cousin with a teenager named [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. I never see this cousin but she is one to gossip. I can only imagine what she will say but the other part of me doesn’t care. What do you think? [name_f]Do[/name_f] I need a new name? I’m open to suggestions. [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is a family name and will for sure be the middle name. I like classic names. We already have two boys named [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m].
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is adorable! And fits in really well with your boys. I understand your dilemma though; I think it’s completely appropriate to go ahead and name your daughter [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. The only thing I would say is you’ll have to be okay with the “fall out”: her complaining to anyone who will listen. The upside to that problem is the fact that people won’t listen to her forever, so my guess is the topic will fade quickly. It might just be a rough 6 months or year. If you want to avoid the issue altogether, here are some other first name suggestions or middle name modifications:
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] (you can still call her [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] as a nickname)
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
Any of these combinations catch your eye? Good luck
If you love a name go for it. Other combos
[name_u]Allie[/name_u] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_u]Allie[/name_u] [name_u]Joan[/name_u]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u]
I’d use it anyway.
My cousin and I both have a [name_m]Henry[/name_m], born within a month of each other, but since I never see her (it’s been…15 years?) it doesn’t bother me.
If you love the name, and you never see this cousin or her daughter, use it.
Thanks everyone! I’m starting to think it really doesn’t matter. Thy might complain but it will fade!
Oh, that’s no big deal! Her daughter is a teenager anyway, it’s not as if you choosing a similar name will somehow overshadow the birth of her own child, fifteen or however many years ago plus, life’s too short to worry about gossipers! No one listens to them anyway!
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is adorable and it goes well with her brothers [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m].
You shouldn’t worry, [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] and [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is similar but not the same name. I could understand the nagging if it was the same name but it isn’t. You love it and that’s what matters. If you still worried you can change [name_u]Jo[/name_u] to a nn for something longer like others have suggested. But I would definitely go with [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u].
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] Jodelle
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Joline[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jordin[/name_u]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] Josannah
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Josette[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
I say go for it! [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is super cute! If you want to make it different though, you could make [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] short for something, like [name_f]Hanna[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_u]Hilary[/name_u], [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f]/[name_f]Helene[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Heather[/name_f], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_f]Harriett[/name_f], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] or [name_f]Harlow[/name_f].
[name_f]Remember[/name_f] this is [name_m]JUST[/name_m] A SUGGESTION and I am not an expert! [name_f]Do[/name_f] not take me 100% as a great source for names!
I usually think it’s really nice to have similar names in families, especially middle names. I’ll be the contrary voice, though, and say I think [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is really close in sound to [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. If you’re set on it and it’s just the family issue, I say go for it. But I like a lot of the other suggestions here. Some others that might go well with [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and your boys’ names: [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f]
I love it! And it fits really well with your boys’ names! I think that if you don’t see the cousin often or even at all, then it won’t matter. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they do complain at first, it will soon wear off as they get used to it!
