Aeneas: yay or nay?

Pronunciation: Eh-NEE-us

What do you think of this name? Is it wearable? I think it’s a very lovely name, and ages well on a man. My only concern is how many people think it’s too close to “anus”. I read the Iliad when I was in college and [name_m]Aeneas[/name_m] was one of my favorite characters throughout it and the name just seemed so beautiful to me. I’m thinking that it will forever be on my guilty pleasure lists as most people go straight to “anus”.

I’m afraid [name_m]Aeneas[/name_m] does remind me of the word “anus”… Plus I think it would be mispronounced a lot (I would have pronounced it uh-NAY-uhs before I read your post). I’d suggest using an alternative form like [name_m]Eneas[/name_m]. [name_m]Aeneas[/name_m] does remind me of [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] so I suggest that too.

I really like [name_m]Aeneas[/name_m], but it does sound enough like “anus” to make it unusable [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
