Holy moly naming craziness! So I posted a while back on how we had the name [name]Matilda[/name] planned out before we found out it was a girl and then once my hubby started telling his family, they all said how ugly the name was. I don’t agree.
So we go back to the name drawing board for two months only to have my husband change his mind again and want the name [name]Matilda[/name] with [name]Quinn[/name] as the middle. Totally fine with me, I get my [name]Matilda[/name]!
YAY!!!
Then a few weeks later he changes his mind because other people he knew didn’t like it and it was out again. OMG. (I was pretty mad at this point.)
If I wasn’t getting a [name]Matilda[/name], I wanted a [name]Winter[/name]. I also like [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Winter[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]!
And after some back and forth it’s out too but not after a little teasing that he might be for it. GAH!
But after all this, I think we have our name: [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Winter[/name]
It wasn’t my first or second or third pick but I like it. And I got [name]Winter[/name] in there!
Thoughts? And someone please name their daughter [name]Matilda[/name] for me. It’s way too cute and spunky to be left behind.
[name]Matilda[/name] is gorgeous, but so is [name]Vivienne[/name]! [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is absolutely stunning, I think you two made a very good decision! And maybe you’ll have another daughter and you can use [name]Matilda[/name] on that one…

But you think [name]Vivi[/name] might have some spunk too? [name]Even[/name] better! If this girl is anything like our last, she needs some name with spunk to match her attitude!
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is very pretty. It’s sad you don’t get to use [name]Matilda[/name] though, especially it being your third and final child. That’s why you don’t tell anyone the name until your baby is born! That’s my philosophy. Once you pick a name, all of a sudden, EVERYONE is an expert on YOUR kid’s name, trying to talk you out of it, adding their opinions… It’s your child. You get to name her. No one else. If you like [name]Matilda[/name], it shouldn’t matter what your family and friends think. It’s not their kid!
This reinforces my thoughts that I wouldn’t tell anyone in real life the name I planned on choosing should I be blessed with a family in the future, haha. I adore [name]Matilda[/name], so I’m sad that your family turned it down. I talk tentatively about names to my family (I’m only 18, a long way off from kids, haha) and my grandma said [name]Matilda[/name] was an old-lady name and she would jokingly “disown” my daughter if I named her that… whoops! I plan on using [name]Eve[/name] as the middle to honor my grandmas ([name]Ruth[/name] Evangeline and [name]Gladys[/name] Evelyn), so I thought it was funny that she didn’t like [name]Matilda[/name]. I would hope my grandma gets to meet any of my children; regardless, I’m going to name a second daughter [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] as long as my future husband allows me that pleasure and I have 2 daughters (I’ll use [name]Matilda[/name] for you, haha)! My friend was talking to me about some of her college drama involving a [name]Matilda[/name] and she added the aside “I know, awful name” and I was on the other end of our skype chat thinking “I hope to goodness that I don’t remember this person 10 years from now” but I probably will… My sister successfully talked me out of using [name]Adelaide[/name], but I’m kind of okay with that. My [name]RA[/name] in my residence hall is named [name]Juliet[/name], and I’ve had that as my top name all summer (it used to be the middle for my top spot, it honors my mom). She is smart, nice, and funny though, I just don’t want anyone to think it honors her instead of my mom, haha. Sorry, really really long naming story.
Anyway, back to what is important, [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is simply gorgeous! I hope you can let go of [name]Matilda[/name] and be truly happy and excited about your little one’s name It’s not fun having to use a “back up” for any reason, so it probably helps to start thinking of it as the first choice, haha. Are you saying [name]Vivienne[/name] vih-vee-EN or just like [name]Vivian[/name] (VIH-vee-uhn)? [name]Just[/name] curious!

[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is beautiful! I’m sure your daughter will love it. I too love [name]Matilda[/name] and had to let it go. What is it about that name that people hate? I love it so much. My partner says it’s an old woman’s name… but he loves [name]Agnes[/name]. What?? Haha! [name]Agnes[/name] isn’t an old woman’s name? Oh well. Lots of names to love out there. We finally sat down the other night and have a list going of names we both love. I agree with pp that said you don’t tell people the name until baby is born. So many name haters out there. I’d rather get feedback from strangers on the internet. If my mom tells me the name I love is hideous, I’ll never feel like I can use the name, because even if I love it I’ll always know she doesn’t. If random berry tells me the name is hideous, well… I’ll take the opinion into consideration, but it wouldn’t stop me from using the name.

This is exactly why we are not telling anyone the name before the baby is born. People can be so judgemental and mean. The fact is that YOU like [name]Matilda[/name], as does your husband but he is swayed by others optinions.
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Winter[/name] is stunning, especially if she is born in winter. So much better than [name]Matilda[/name] imo.

And for what it’s worth, I love [name]Matilda[/name]. It gets mixed reviews when I bring it up here on NB too, but I love it. [name]Matilda[/name] is a perfect name to me…sweet, spunky, intelligent-sounding and not over-used. It’s a quirky classic!
