I am torn on [name]Agatha[/name_f]. On one hand, it exactly fits the naming style I aspire to [name_f][/name_f]- rooted in tradition while feeling fresh and new but not trendy. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband approves of it and it gets us to [name_f]Aggie[/name_f], a nickname he loves. On the other hand, part of me can’t picture such a clunky, old-fashioned name on a little girl. [name_m]Other[/name_m] old, clunky names feel sweet and baby-ready, but somehow I can only picture [name]Agatha[/name_f] on a rather serious child. I want to love it, especially considering that for most of our girl names, my husband and I either disagree about them or aren’t sure we can use them.

What are your thoughts about [name]Agatha[/name_f]? What kind of child/person do you see her as? How would you feel meeting a little [name]Agatha[/name_f]? [name_m]Can[/name_m] I fall in love with the name or should I move on?
[name_m]Oh[/name_m] I love [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], especially with the nickname Aggie!! [name_f]She[/name_f] feels warm & friendly to me [name_f][/name_f] I would be over the moon to meet a little [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]! [name_f]She[/name_f] really embodies sweet, wholesome, homemade apple pie in a name [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Love[/name_f] her and one of the most cool artsy people I know just used it for her daughter. [name_f]So[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] clunky cool it’s just plain cool. I think it’s a cosy name but also feels intelligent [name_f][/name_f]- it makes me think of [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_m]Christie[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]The[/name_m] main character of the tv series ‘Rivals’ is named [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] nn Taggy which might give it a boost!
It’s an established name, with a cute nickname that you and your husband both love. It’s your baby, if you both love it, I say go for it. Plus, she’s only going to be a baby girl for a small portion of her life, and for what it’s worth, of all clunkier ‘old lady’ names, [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is one of the ones I could actually picture on a small child.
[name_f][/name_f]
Side Note: I work with small children, and I know a toddler who’s very quiet and has the most serious face ever, and everybody loves that about him. [name_f]So[/name_f] a serious little kid isn’t a bad thing at all.
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is a lovely name! [name_f][/name_f] I slightly prefer the variant [name_f]Agata[/name_f], at least in sound if not visually (Agatha looks more “right” but historically I’ve liked the look of [name_f]Agata[/name_f] more, which feels more modern?). [name_f][/name_f] I used to have the same struggle—it felt witchy and old-lady, neither of which is usually my vibe. [name_f][/name_f] I love names with history but I wouldn’t consider my style to be vintage at all, really.
[name_f][/name_f]
But recently a little [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] came into my life (she goes by just [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] though), and she is slowly but surely changing my views on her. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is a petite little thing, creative, sassy, kind, sensitive. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]She[/name_f] is Brazilian and has the most beautiful long, curly hair and the sweetest smile. [name_f][/name_f] She’s brought my life so much joy to my life. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]So[/name_f] because of her, I think of [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] fondly—and because she’s Brazilian it’s about a 50/50 chance whether I’ll say AG-ah-tha or uh GOT uh, but either way, I’m starting to appreciate her. [name_f][/name_f] Also love the tie to [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_m]Christie[/name_m], and can envision a little [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] solving her own mysteries—or being a creative soul, or also being sensitive. [name_f][/name_f] I wouldn’t say she’s my favorite yet, but she is becoming dear to my heart. [name_f][/name_f] All the best with your heart decision with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]!
I love [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]! I love that she’s clunky and antique and unusual in that way, but totally known. Definitely would fit in as old names are having a revival.
[name_f][/name_f]
I think a little [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] would be absolutely adorable, and I can picture any personality with this name. I see little [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] as lively and warm, with a bright smile.
She’s really grown on me over the years! I picture a real wild child with the name, maybe the opposite of most. I am torn between [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] personally.
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is very charming [name_f][/name_f]- clunky cute, [name_f][/name_f] literary, creative, tough! I can envision a serious [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] but easilt imagine a sassy, bubbly one too.
[name_f][/name_f]
If it helps at all, I grew up with an [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] who was studious and sporty, and have since encountered a couple of kids called [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], one being quiet and creative, the one causing trouble in a coffee shop
I could definitely picture [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] on a child! I agree that the full name feels quite serious and studious, but nickname [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] seems like it would suit a bubbly, sunny child as well - I think it’s actually quite versatile. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]. It’s been somewhat popular in the UK so I can definitely see it coming into fashion in the US soon.
