So granted, I was a little disappointed from seeing that the movie Age of [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] was coming out, because I think for some it’ll be another way to get to the [name_f]Addy[/name_f]/[name_f]Addie[/name_f] nickname and maybe I’m a little scared people will get to it before me. More people I know, I mean. Plus I don’t want it to get too popular, we are in Australia though if that means anything. I feel terrible for saying that.
Anyway, I went to see the film and my chin fell to the floor when I found out that [name_f]Adaline[/name_f]'s nickname in the film is [name_f]Della[/name_f].
I’ve loved [name_f]Della[/name_f] for a really long time as well, so seeing them both in the limelight left me in a bit of a tizzy. Anyone else experiencing this same thing or have you in the past? Besides Frozen, of course.
I kinda experienced something like this a few months ago back when [name_u]Carter[/name_u] was my number 1 boy’s name. That MTV show Finding [name_u]Carter[/name_u] came out and the main character is a girl named [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. I was worried that [name_u]Carter[/name_u] would get super popular for girls which was something I really didn’t want to happen (like it did with [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], etc). It didn’t help that, already, whenever I mentioned that I liked the name [name_u]Carter[/name_u] for a boy to my best friend she would always respond with how much she thinks of the [name_f]Selena[/name_f] Gomez character from [name_f]Princess[/name_f] Protection Program. As if that didn’t annoy me enough.
I usually don’t worry too much about things like that. Maybe that’s because neither of my top names have had big characters associated with them in recent times. I feel like trends come and go, and I know what kind of names my generation likes. Also, for me at least, what brings me back down when I get heated over my favorite names rising in popularity, is the fact that I won’t be having kids for another 10 or so years! Things can change fast in that amount of time.
This movie coming out has definitely been bothering me for EVERYONE I know who loves [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or has already used it. Sucks for all the [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]'s too [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. We love [name_f]Ada[/name_f]- but won’t use it due to the [name_f]Addie[/name_f] epidemic.
I was actually happily surprised by this movie and the character’s name! [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] isn’t one of my top names but I adore it in general so it made me happy, not disappointed. However, if a movie like that came out with one of my favorites, say, [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], I would be totally crushed! This happened to me on a smaller scale with the name [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] a couple years back when Maleficent came out.
I had this problem with the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. My fiance and I loved it and then the book and movie Fault in our Stars came out and we didn’t want anybody to think that was our inspirations so we have put the name on hold
