Agnes?

I may just be crazy, but I’ve been crushing on [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] lately. Is it too old lady/too ugly/clunky for a little girl or is it usable? What are your thoughts?

I love the name [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]. I think the [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] names are all so charming. However, no one else in my life likes them, so honestly I don’t know if I can call it usable. I would not personally use it, despite loving it. It falls pretty definitively into the guilty pleasure category for me.

I love [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s too old lady at all. It’sa vintage pick to be sure, but it’s got spunk.

I like it! [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] is cute. Also the movies Despicable Me have a little [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] so people may see it as more wearable on a little girl

I love [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]! I agree with @brittanyanitarose, it feels more “vintage revival” nowadays than old lady.

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is one of my favorites! In my opinion, absolutely wearable.

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is definitely ready for a comeback!

I love [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and I totally think it’s usable! I like the hard-soft contrasts in sound and the strong, capable vibe I get from it. I can’t get on board with [name_f]Aggie[/name_f], though — I’d probably call her Ness for short.

I used to [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], until a bunch of raunchy old guys who frequent the restaurant where I work started calling me [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]. (I don’t even know why. [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] is clearly not [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]! le sigh.) And then it just seemed… wrong. I love the whole [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] family–am crushing on [name_f]Agata[/name_f] and [name_f]Agnieszka[/name_f] in particular lately!–but find it hard to get behind [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] these days. I do [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation (ahn-YES!) still, though, and think [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] is the sweetest nn for it ever. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] that takes away the icky feeling I get now, though, and love the idea of something sweet and modern with [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]–like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f], or [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]?

Good luck!

I really like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]. Its sweet, slightly old fashioned but quirky

I like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], and I think Ness/[name_f]Nessa[/name_f]/[name_f]Nessie[/name_f] are adorable nicknames. My favourite version of it is [name_f]Agnieszka[/name_f].

I think it’s defintely coming back as a baby name. It’s quite cute. Not a fan of [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] as a nickname. I know some people use “[name_f]Aggie[/name_f]” to describe people who are aggravated. I do like Ness, [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] or [name_f]Nessie[/name_f] as nicknames though

I adore [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]. Prefer [name_f]Nessie[/name_f]/[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] oveer [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] though.

I love, love [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and I think it’s super usable, especially with super cute nicknames [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] & [name_f]Nessie[/name_f]. That being said, I think you’re likely to get a lot of push back on it from friends and family, so if you go for it, I’d prepare myself for that.

Thank you all for your replies! I’m glad so many people love this name, I thought I was crazy LOL. [name_f]Agnieszka[/name_f] is cool, it reminds me of Aneshka/[name_f]Anoushka[/name_f] which I love. @ashthedreamer [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is lovely!

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is absolutely stunning! It carries lots of gravity, but also shortens to fun, sweet nicknames. I also think it fits right in with many vintage revival names, while also standing out. I think it pairs nicely with a modern middle or a steady classic. [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (all middles plucked from your gorgeous signature) all sound great.
