ahh new realization

so I just posted something about how I hate boys names because the I never get the same feeling towards that I do girls’ names. so I was thinking of ways to get over that mental block and it came to me. [name]Even[/name] though I can’t get a warm fuzzy feeling towards a boy’s name, I can get that feeling towards an association with the name. so…my dad’s name is [name]Philip[/name] nn [name]Flip[/name]. and now that I think about it, I love the idea of naming a boy after my father. While the name doesn’t send me into a tizzy like [name]Cecelia[/name] or [name]Beatrix[/name] does, I do get excited about imagining my son being held by his namesake.

So I wanted to ask y’all about your opinion of [name]Philip[/name]. And the nickname [name]Flip[/name], I’ve never heard anyone call my dad [name]Philip[/name] or [name]Phil[/name]. Also I was called Flippee my entire life for a penchant for flip-flops that started early on, which is something that my dad and I always bonded on.

Would you spell it with one L or two? My dad spells it with one, and what about the nn? I can’t decide how I like it on not, on someone who isn’t my dad.

I feel the same way about boys names, they just dont excite me like girls names do. I like the name [name]Philip[/name], any spelling. I thinks its a great way to honor your dad. I would however use a different nn just so ppl dont get confused. ps I think [name]FLIP[/name] is a cute nn.

I’m the same with boys names, but I do like naming kids after family. If your dad is [name]Philip[/name] with one “l”, I say DEFINITELY do [name]Philip[/name] with one “l”. I [name]LOVE[/name] that you would do [name]Flip[/name] as a nickname. I really dislike “[name]Phil[/name]” (mostly because it’s the name of a dingbat ex-brother-in-law…haha).

I’m the same way. I just feel a certain connection to girls names that I don’t with boys names.

I love the name [name]Philip[/name], with one L, and I adore the feminine form [name]Philippa[/name], too. [name]Philip[/name], nn [name]Phil[/name], is my god-brother’s name and the name of a great uncle, so it’s something I’ve always imagined possibly using as well. I’ve never heard of [name]Flip[/name] as a nn for [name]Philip[/name], but I think it’s very cool and could imagine it on a cute little boy

Some combos you might like:

[name]Philip[/name] [name]Russell[/name]
[name]Philip[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Philip[/name] [name]Ignatius[/name] (very unusual, but I like it!)
[name]Philip[/name] [name]Julian[/name]
[name]Philip[/name] [name]Elijah[/name]

[name]Happy[/name] naming!
