No, I would never name my daughter [name]Aidan[/name], but today I ran across a twelve year old girl named [name]Aidan[/name], born before the -aidan name craze.
I’ve never thought of [name]Aidan[/name] being a girl name before. What do you fellow berries think? Is it expected with all of the girls named -son names? Would you ever think of using [name]Aidan[/name] on a girl?
(Yes, the spelling of the name is [name]Aidan[/name], and not [name]Aidyn[/name] or Aydinn)
Before the [name]Aidan[/name] craze (or maybe my knowledge or the [name]Aidan[/name] craze, I think at the time I heard it on [name]John[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] plus 8…) I named a female character [name]Aidan[/name] for a school assignment. I thought it was a girls name at the time in fact. I really like it on a girl actually. If it weren’t so incredibly popular for boys, I’d think it’d make a cute baby girls name.
I always thought [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Jayden[/name], [name]Kayden[/name], etc were SO feminine. I much prefer them on a girl. I’d never use any of them though…on a boy or a girl. But [name]Aidan[/name] is kind of cute for a girl. I like really old fashioned manly names on boys like [name]Jack[/name], [name]Henry[/name], etc. So some of these more modern boys names actually seem more girl suited to me.
Wow, that’s unfortunate that her once-unique name is now an astronomically popular boy’s name. But, no. [name]Aidan[/name] does not strike me as feminine. And I also despise -son names for girls.
