I can’t help but like the name [name]Aidan[/name], no matter how trendy it may be. My question is - do you think it’s too popular to use, or is it still at least a little bit interesting? I’d be using the NN [name]Danny[/name]. Would [name]Daniel[/name] be a better choice, or is it too 80s?
[name]Aidan[/name] is lovely. I’m probably in the minority here, lol, and I’ve had a period where I wouldn’t go near [name]Aidan[/name] with a 39-and-a-half-foot pole, but it’s always been a lovely Gaelic/Irish name, and if it wasn’t so overused now, I would be really impressed to meet one. I do love the nn [name]Danny[/name], and I’ve considered it for [name]Aidan[/name], but I think [name]Daniel[/name] makes more sense for the nn [name]Danny[/name]. I don’t think [name]Daniel[/name]‘s too 80s at all–it’s still on the top 10 boys’ names in the US, and it’s a familiar, timeless Biblical classic. I don’t think [name]Daniel[/name] will ever go out of style!
Good luck!
I personally think it’s too popular to use, especially with all the other similar sounding names. When a friend of mine chose to use [name]Aidan[/name], I remember feeling disappointed- I thought for sure she would have chosen something much more unique and spunky. I would choose [name]Daniel[/name] over [name]Aidan[/name].
I think if you’re planning to call your son [name]Danny[/name], then [name]Daniel[/name] would be a better choice for the full name. It’s a classic that also sounds modern, and [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Danny[/name] is a more logical NN for it than for [name]Aidan[/name]. And yes, [name]Aidan[/name] is soooooo trendy now, with all its spellings, that if you don’t have a really strong reason to choose it and you’re not going to call your child that anyway, it might be better to go with a different name.
I really like [name]Aiden[/name] . The SATC character did it for me. It’s just too popular in a trendy way to use. Between all the Aidans, jaydens, kadens, and Bradens it’s name overkill.
[name]Daniel[/name] is a classic. You can’t go wrong .
