[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, I am a new member here. Actually I’ve been looking at nameberry for awhile now and got ideas for my first boy name from this site.
Now, together with my wife, I have to find name for the second boy, which we found harder to connect compared to finding name for the first one.
After a few weeks, we eliminated a lot of names from our list, which is now down to [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] or [name_m]Axel[/name_m], the middle name will be [name_m]Zachary[/name_m].
This is such a dilemma for us as we prefer the name [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], but we prefer the meaning of [name_m]Axel[/name_m]. The fact that [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is not that popular also gives it a positive place within us.
If you have any inputs, comments, etc, will be highly appreciated. Thanks !
I’m torn. On the one hand I think that [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] is the more wearable name, but I wonder if it will be too popular. Knowing the other brother’s name might be helpful.
I love the name [name_m]Axel[/name_m], though many willl think of the Guns N Roses reference, unfortunately. I think it’s gorgeous. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Angus[/name_m]?
[name_m]Axel[/name_m] is an awesome name. It stands out more than [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], but in a good way. Also, [name_m]Axel[/name_m] does not rhyme with 500+ other names.
I prefer [name_m]Axel[/name_m] because [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] is so popular. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong; I like [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], especially spelled [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]; but I’ve heard it so often, in real life, over the past several years that I’m a bit bored by it now. And all the rhyming names ([name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_m]Caden[/name_m], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], etc.) make [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] feel even more popular than it really is.
Congrats, and good luck!
As a preschool teacher with two students named [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], my vote is for [name_m]Axel[/name_m]! I like the fact that it’s masculine and unique.
Thank you all !!! the older brother’s name is [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]… I agree with all your comments, especially because I don’t want my kid to be in a classroom with 10 or more other kids named the same. The thing with [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] is that it rhymes well with my first kid. [name_m]Angus[/name_m] is not on our list currently, but thanks !
Oh, I like [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]. Nice job. And actually, I prefer sibling names that don’t match so closely. “Matchy” names, like [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] or [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], seem to my ear to detract from each other rather than set each other off. I like sibling sets that sound cohesive, like part of a set, but that allow each name to shine. In my opinion, [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is a more unique and handsome brother set than [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u].
I prefer [name_m]Axel[/name_m] because [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] seems to have really boomed in the early 2000s & spawned all kinds of -ayden variants. [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is great! It feels more 2014 to me. I think it will feel more wearable in the next few years as a few celebs have used it & Guns & Roses don’t play anymore & have more of a positive nostalgia vibe than anything else imo. I can’t see [name_m]Axel[/name_m] becoming crazy popular & don’t expect to meet anyone named Braxyl or Jaxsul anytime soon
[name_m]Axel[/name_m], but spelled [name_m]Aksel[/name_m]. I think the very heavy [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], man’s man reference associated with [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is sad. In Denmark, both [name_m]Axel[/name_m] and [name_m]Aksel[/name_m] are old, traditional and strong names. [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is the regal version, [name_m]Aksel[/name_m] is the more grounded version.
As for [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], I personally think it looks better when it’s spelled [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]. [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] looks like a misspelling to me, but I also know an [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (a girl), so the spelling is odd to me. [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] is nice, [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] is very ugh “[name_u]Jayden[/name_u]-y”.
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]/[name_m]Aksel[/name_m] is better than [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], but if you’re going for [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], spell it correctly.
Wow thanks all for your thoughts… very informative and i think we are confident about [name_m]Axel[/name_m] now… [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is also on our list but wife likes [name_m]Axel[/name_m] better…
